  Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

INSPECT Check     
1 Check delivery condition of 2nd generation DTCO (7). IMPORTANT Information regarding manufacturer, device type and serial number on the type plate must correspond to the information on the delivery note.
IMPORTANT The lead seal of the 2nd generation DTCO (7), as well as the lead seal (8) of the battery compartment (9), must be intact. If the lead seal of the 2nd generation DTCO (7) or the lead seal (8) of the battery compartment (9) is damaged:

Order a new 2nd generation DTCO (7). Send back damaged 2nd generation DTCO (7).
 
2 Check buffer battery of 2nd generation DTCO (7). NOTES When replacing the buffer battery, the power supply from the vehicle must be guaranteed.
Otherwise, it is not possible to commission the 2nd generation DTCO (7).
IMPORTANT Do not yet install 2nd generation DTCO (7).
 
    IMPORTANT The manufacturing date (10) of the buffer battery is determined using information on the model plate of the 2nd generation DTCO (7). The manufacturing date (10) is coded as follows:
"A to M" for the month of manufacture "January to December" and "YY" for the year of manufacture, for example "B18" for manufacturing date "February 2018".
The manufacturing date (10) of the 2nd generation DTCO (7) must not be older than 12 months.
If the manufacturing date (10) is older than 12 months:
 
     
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Replace buffer battery.

    IMPORTANT During removal of the buffer battery, the lead seal (8) at the battery compartment (9) is irreparably damaged and must be replaced.  
REMOVING Remove     
3.1 Remove 1st generation DTCO (1). Model 907
with code JD2 (Tachograph digital EC with RPM + aux-recorder)
 
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT Model 907 with code FF8 (1 device installation frame at front under roof lining) See Fig. A.
IMPORTANT Model 907 with code FE9 (1 device installation frame under cockpit, front passenger side)
See Fig. B.
IMPORTANT The 1st generation DTCO (1) is no longer required and must be handed over to the customer or disposed of properly following consultation with the customer.

3.2 Remove cover (2). Model 907
with code JV6 (Tachograph pre-installation kit)

IMPORTANT Cover (2) is no longer required and must be handed over to the customer or disposed of properly following consultation with the customer.
 
4 Remove front overhead control panel.

5 Unclip covers (3, 4).    
6 Remove front passenger side A-pillar trim. If 2nd generation DTCO (7) is installed in the instrument panel.

INSTALLING Install     
7 Install device installation frame (5). Model 907
with code JV6 (Tachograph pre-installation kit)
IMPORTANT Model 907 with code FF8 (1 device installation frame at front under roof lining) See fig. E.
IMPORTANT Model 907 with code FE9 (1 device installation frame under cockpit, front passenger side)

IMPORTANT To do so, insert device installation frame (5) into frame (6) and bend over shackles (arrows) until device installation frame (5) can no longer be moved.
 
8 Retrofit antenna for 2nd generation DTCO (7).   SM54.61-D-0011-01TS 
    Cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1025-04A 
9 Subsequently connect and install 2nd generation DTCO (7).   SM54.61-D-0005-02TS 
10 Clip in covers (3, 4).    
11 Install front passenger side A-pillar trim. If 2nd generation DTCO (7) was installed in

12 Install front overhead control panel.

REMOVING Remove     
13 Raise vehicle.

14 Remove underbody paneling. If installed.

INSTALLING Install     
15 Modify RPM sensor for 2nd generation DTCO (7). Model 907 SM54.61-D-0005-03TS 
    Long-life grease *BR00.45-Z-1001-06A 
16 Install lead seal for 2nd generation DTCO (7) RPM sensor.   SM54.61-D-0005-04TS 
17 Install underbody paneling. If installed.

18 Lower vehicle.    
19 Enter special equipment into on-line vehicle data card. IMPORTANT Designation of affected special equipment: Code JD6 (EU intelligent tachograph).
IMPORTANT Remove existing code JV6 (Tachograph pre-installation) or code JD2 (EU digital tachograph with rotational speed+additional recorder).
IMPORTANT Attach note "Digital tachographs converted as per SM54.61-D-0005TS " under field organization texts to DG 54.
 
20 Carry out SCN coding on electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS). Model 907 with code JV6 (Tachograph pre-installation kit)  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT Under the "Control unit adaptations" menu item follow the instructions for "SCN coding".
IMPORTANT Do not yet remove vehicle diagnosis system.

21 Carry out SCN coding on instrument cluster (IC) control unit. Model 907

REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT Under the "Control unit adaptations" menu item follow the instructions for "SCN coding". AR54.21-D-0015TS
22 Enter new serial number of 2nd generation DTCO (7) into Vehicle Documentation (VeDoc).    
23 Tachograph inspection to be carried out by authorized personnel. IMPORTANT When doing so, observe operator's manua included with 2nd generation DTCO (7).
IMPORTANT Observe national legal requirements for tachograph testing. In the Federal Republic of Germany, perform the tachograph inspection as per paragraph 57b of the German Regulations Authorizing the Use of Vehicles for Road Traffic (StVZO).
 
24 Attach new sealing plate with current printout. NOTES Contact surfaces must be fully free from dust and grease.
Otherwise, a sufficient degree of adhesion cannot be assured.
NOTES Make absolutely sure that the installation position is correct when sticking it on. After sticking on the sealing plate, it is no longer possible to move it.
IMPORTANT Remove old sealing plate.
IMPORTANT Attach sealing plate in clearly visible area on driver's side seat base.
