Perform chassis alignment - AR40.20-P-0200GZ

MODEL 164 

MEASURING Measuring, adjusting    
IMPORTANT Observe general information on chassis alignment   AR40.20-P-0201GZ 
1 Drive vehicle onto test site and secure by applying parking brake IMPORTANT The measuring system must be approved by Mercedes-Benz.  
2.1 Select comfort optimization with the adaptive damping system switch on the center console IMPORTANT Vehicle with Airmatic (air suspension with level adjustment and adaptive damping system ADS), code 489.
IMPORTANT Both indicator lamps in the switch are off.
 
3.1 Switch off easy entry/exit function for driver seat and steering wheel IMPORTANT Vehicles with memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors) code 275.
NOTES Otherwise the driver seat and steering wheel move into a different position if the driver door is opened or closed for example.
The seat may be damaged if the brake pedal winch is installed.
IMPORTANT It is switched off using the buttons on the steering wheel in the "Comfort" menu on the multifunction display, see vehicle owner's manual.

4.1 Open driver door, disembark and raise the vehicle level, then lower it again using the vehicle level switch on the center console IMPORTANT Vehicle with Airmatic (air suspension with level adjustment and adaptive damping system ADS), code 489.
IMPORTANT Raising and lowering the vehicle reduces play in the suspension.
IMPORTANT The vehicle must not be loaded again.
 
5 Using the adapter, install the brake pedal retaining tool between the pedal and the driver's seat IMPORTANT Protect the brake pedal and driver seat from damage.

6 Move selector lever to position "P"    
7 Open window and close door IMPORTANT Preparations for checking steering lock.
IMPORTANT The vehicle must not be loaded again.
 
8 Switch off ignition    
9 Attach rapid-clamping devices   AR40.20-P-0230GZ 
10 Fit on measuring heads    
11 Unlock turnplates and sliding platforms    
12 Perform initial measurement    
13 Check vehicle level at front and rear axle with electronic inclinometer and adjust if necessary   AR40.20-P-0301GZ 
14.1 Check and adjust toe on rear axle IMPORTANT According to results of initial measurement. AR40.20-P-0332GZ 
15.1 Check and adjust rear-axle camber IMPORTANT According to results of initial measurement. AR40.20-P-0331GZ 
16.1 Check and adjust camber and caster at front axle IMPORTANT According to results of initial measurement. AR40.20-P-0322GZ 
17.1 Check and adjust front axle toe IMPORTANT According to results of initial measurement. AR40.20-P-0323GZ 
18 Perform final measurement    
19 Detach sensors    
20 Remove brake pedal jack tool with its adapter SPECIAL TOOL Brake pedal winch Fig 1

21 Drive vehicle off measuring system    
22 Lock turntables and sliding platforms
