Remove paneling from front Vario roof |

Align installation position with roof switch |
Leave ignition switched on. DAS Vario roof remains in this position for 7 minutes when the roof switch is released (Stop function). When the Vario roof switch is pressed again, this position can be adjusted for another 7 minutes. |

Press off Bowden cable (2) of front lock |
|
|
| 5 |
Remove circlip (3) from C-pillar lock and unhook Bowden cable (2) |
|
|
| 6 |
Remove electrical lines and hydraulic lines from Vario roof at front together with retaining clamps. |
Do not disconnect lines from brackets |
|
| 7 |
Switch off ignition, remove lock from Vario roof at front and lay down next to the passenger seat |
Maintain assembly position during removal. The bolts can be unscrewed more easily when the ignition is switched off, since the lock can no longer be tensioned |

Lay front Vario roof down manually on crossmember above windshield |

Press Vario roof downward in area of roof separation until the Slide valve (4) on the C-pillar lock is located in the eccentric (5) |

Mark position of bracket (7) when reusing same roof |
|
|
| 11 |
Unscrew bolts (6) from bracket (7), remove any spacer (8) present and lift front Vario roof |
Do not mix up spacers (8) |

Install |
|
|
|
When replacing the front Vario roof, preinstall stop buffer (9) and retaining clamps (10), because this is no longer possible when the roof is installed |

Position front Vario roof, position bolts (6), install spacers (8), align front Vario roof in relation to A-pillar and C-pillar and tighten bolts (6). |

Open emergency operation valve (N) on hydraulic unit to stop with 6 mm Allen wrench |
Open emergency operation valve only with roof put down or closed and ignition switched off to avoid damaging the seal on the emergency operation valve (N) which would prevent pressure from building up in the system. |

Unhook retracting spring (11) from C-pillar lock and slide slide valve (4) upward |
|
|
| 16 |
Move Vario roof to assembly position by hand |
|
|
| 17 |
Install lock on front Vario roof |
Position all bolts, lock lock with 6 mm Allen wrench and unlock again Hold lock in unlocking direction and tighten bolts first outside and then in center |

Install electrical lines and hydraulic lines on front Vario roof |

Install Bowden cable (2) in C-pillar lock and hook in retracting spring (11) |
When hooking in retracting spring (11), ensure that grommet on the Bowden cable (2) is located in the bracket (2). |

Install Bowden cable (2) on front lock |
|
|
| 21 |
Close emergency operation valve (N) on hydraulic unit |

Carefully close Vario roof with roof switch and lock completely |

Install seal on front Vario roof at side |
