Navigation mode, function - GF82.85-P-2012D

MODEL 208, 210 with CODE (352a) COMAND operating and display system except CODE (498) Japanese version

The location of the vehicle  and the direction to and distance from the destination  (according to specified destination) are determined with the aid of the COMAND navigation system. Then the measures required to reach the destination are started (route guidance  )

The navigation system is activated by pressing the button " NAVI  " on the control module. A navigation processor with CD ROM drive for the digital map data is integrated into the COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3)  .

IMPORTANT Notes on navi-CD screen: 

up to 31.05.01; " Please insert navi CD" 

as of 01.06.01; "Please insert navi CD model DX" 

This display is intended to ensure that customers procure the correct CD  . The navigation CD-ROM  drive can also play audio CD's  .

Entering destination 

Entry of the destination is accomplished with menu guidance on the control module and the entry is processed by the navigation processor  . It is only possible to enter destinations which can be found on the CD ROM. COMAND  offers the following possibilities for entering destinations:

Thinning speller (as of 01.06.01) 

While entering the destination the letters still missing are supplemented from a present list. The thinning speller  is only active in the political index  and refers to the destination  and street  entry with route guidance The menu special destinations  supports the submenus" Vicinity of other locations...  " and "Extraregional destinations...  "The menu "Extraregional destinations...  " is subdivided into another submenu. The individual menu points  in this submenu use the political index  .

Dynamic supplementation feature 

This function is realized for manual destination entry. While entering the destination the letters still missing are supplemented from a present list. The supplemented characters are indicated with a black background. Erasing is possible character for character.

Location finding 

COMAND  continuously calculates the vehicle location with the aid of the following procedures:

The navigation processor (A40/n2)  calculates the most probable position by continuously comparing the position-finding results returned by these three methods.

Route calculation 

The route is calculated by the navigation processor  in accordance with the specified destination, or automatically, after a deviation from the suggested route has taken place.

If the vehicle is equipped with dynamic guidance (code 815)  , the current traffic situation also influences the route calculation (e.g. If the vehicle is equipped with dynamic guidance (code 815)  , the current traffic situation also influences the route calculation (e.g. construction site, traffic jam). Route guidance 

After the navigation processor has calculated the route, route guidance is started.

Three types of depiction can be selected for graphic route guidance:

Any of the three methods can be used. Route guidance is also supported by voice output  via the vehicle loudspeakers.
