Fuel-filler Lid Opener

  1. Open the fuel-filler lid.
  2. Remove the following parts:
    1. Rear over fender (See REAR OVER FENDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    2. Rear combination light (See REAR COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    3. Rear splash shield (See REAR SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    4. Rear under cover (2WD) (See REAR UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    5. Rear bumper stay (See REAR BUMPER STAY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    6. Rear bumper (See REAR BUMPER REMOVAL .) (See REAR BUMPER INSTALLATION .)
    7. Extractor chamber (LH) (See EXTRACTOR CHAMBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    8. Rear package tray (See REAR PACKAGE TRAY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    9. Trunk board (with trunk board) (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    10. Trunk covering (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    11. Bass-box (with Bose®) (See BASS-BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    12. Trunk box (See TRUNK BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
    13. Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  3. Partially peel back the trunk side trim (LH) to the position allowing removal of the fuel-filler lid opener. (See TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  4. Open the fuel-filler lid opener box and disconnect the fuel-filler lid opener from the fuel-filler lid opener box.

  5. While pressing the tabs in the directions of arrows (1) shown in the figure, press it out in the direction of arrow (2) and detach the stopper tabs from the body.

  6. Remove the stopper.
  7. Rotate the fuel-filler lid opener in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure and detach the fuel-filler lid opener from the body.

  8. Remove the fuel-filler lid opener.
  9. While pressing the fuel-filler lid opener tab, rotate the lift spring in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and detach the lift spring from the fuel-filler lid opener.

  10. Remove the lift spring.
  11. Install in the reverse order of removal.
