Disassembly [12/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing.

    NOTE:

    After the ignition switch is turned off, there may be a waiting time before disconnecting the negative (-) battery terminal.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - ]

  3. REMOVE DOOR ASSIST GRIP COVER

      1. Using a moulding remover, disengage the claws and clips to remove the door assist grip cover.
  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL

      1. Using a moulding remover, disengage the claws and remove the front door inside handle bezel.

  17. REMOVE FRONT UPPER ARMREST BASE PANEL (for Driver Side)

      1. Remove the 9 screws.
      2. Detach the claw and remove the front door speaker grille.
      3. Using a moulding remover, disengage the claws and clips to remove the front upper armrest base panel.
  18. REMOVE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH FRONT DOOR ARMREST BASE PANEL (for Front Passenger Side)

      1. Remove the 9 screws.
      2. Detach the claw and remove the front door speaker grille.
      3. Using a moulding remover, disengage the claws and clips to remove the power window regulator switch assembly with front door armrest base panel.

  20. REMOVE FRONT DOOR TRIM BASE SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH DOOR INSIDE HANDLE SEAL

      1. Using a clip remover with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the clips and remove the door frame garnish.

      Turn in this Direction - -
      1. Disconnect the connectors and disengage the clamps.
      2. Turn the 3 front door service hole cover clips 45° to remove it clips as shown in the illustration.
      3. Use the clip remover with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the clips to remove front door service hole cover.
      4. Pull out the open lever front door lock remote control cable and front door inside lock and unlock knob locking cable from the front door service hole cover.
  28. REMOVE FRONT DOOR GLASS SUB-ASSEMBLY

      *A for Driver Side *B for Front Passenger Side
      Remove in this Direction - -
      1. Remove the hole plug.
      2. for Driver Side:

        1. Connect the connectors to the multiplex network master switch assembly with front door armrest base panel.

      3. for Front Passenger Side:

        1. Connect the connector to the power window regulator switch assembly with front door armrest base panel.

      4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

        Refer to INSTALLATION [12/2021 - ]

      5. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
      6. Move the front door glass sub-assembly so that the door glass bolts can be seen and turn the ignition switch to OFF.

      *A for Driver Side *B for Front Passenger Side
      Remove in this Direction - -
      1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

        Refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - ]

        WARNING:
        • Wait at least 60 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

        • If an airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious injury.
      2. for Driver Side:

        1. Disconnect the connectors from the multiplex network master switch assembly with front door armrest base panel.

      3. for Front Passenger Side:

        1. Disconnect the connector from the power window regulator switch assembly with front door armrest base panel.

      4. Remove the 2 bolts.
        NOTE:

        After the bolts are removed, do not allow the front door glass sub-assembly to fall.

      5. Remove the front glass sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.
        NOTE:

        Do not damage the front door glass sub-assembly.

      Remove in this Direction (1) Remove in this Direction (2)
      1. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the claws as shown in the illustration.
      2. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disconnect the connector.
      3. Disengage the claws and move the lever as shown in the illustration.
      4. Remove the front door outside handle assembly as shown in the illustration.
  33. REMOVE FRONT DOOR LOCK CYLINDER ASSEMBLY (for Driver Side)

      1. Remove the hole plug.
      2. Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, loosen the "TORX" screw.
      3. Remove the front door lock cylinder assembly as shown in the illustration.

      1. Remove the hole plug.
      2. Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, loosen the "TORX" screw.
      3. Remove the front door outside handle cover as shown in the illustration.

  36. REMOVE FRONT DOOR LOCK WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY (w/ Easy Closer)

      2. Disengage the guide and clamps to separate the wire harness.
      3. Disengage the guides to remove the front door outside handle frame sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.

      1. Using a clip remover with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the clips.
      2. Remove the clip and front door No. 2 weatherstrip.

      *a Tape *b Flange
      1. Insert a 4.0 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit into a drill.
      2. Tape the 4.0 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit 5.0 mm (0.197 in.) from the tip as shown in the illustration.

        Standard Measurement

        A 5.0 mm (0.197 in.) - -
        NOTE:

        Tape the 4.0 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit to prevent the drill bit from going too deep.

      3. Lightly press the drill against the rivets to drill off the rivet flange, and remove the rivets.
        WARNING:

        Be careful of the drilled rivet, as they may be hot.

        NOTE:
        • Pressing the drill too firmly will cause the rivet to turn and result in the rivet not being drilled through.
        • Prying the rivet with the drill may damage the rivet installation holes or drill bit.
      4. Remove the 2 bolts and front door front lower frame sub-assembly.

      Double-sided Tape - -
      1. Using a clip remover with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the clips.
      2. Remove the double-sided tape and front door weatherstrip.
        NOTE:

        Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the front door panel.

    In order to remove the front door No. 3 weatherstrip, first remove the front door panel.

      Double-sided Tape - -
      1. Detach the clamps of the front door wire.
      2. Disconnect the front door wire from the front door panel.
      3. Remove the 4 bolts and front door panel.
        WARNING:

        Be sure to perform this procedure with 2 or more persons as the part is very heavy.

      4. Remove the clips.
      5. Remove the double-sided tape and front door weatherstrip.
        NOTE:

        Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the front door panel.
