Removal [08/2021 - 07/2022]: Procedure
- PRECAUTION NOTE:
After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

- RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM

- DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE

- ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
- REMOVE AUXILIARY BATTERY

- REMOVE FRONT WHEELS
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1
- REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
- REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH
- DRAIN ENGINE OIL

- DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2
- DRAIN CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE FLUID
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4
- REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Lift the front of the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly to disengage the 3 clips, and then lift the rear of the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly to disengage the clip and remove the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly.NOTE:
Attempting to disengage both front and rear clips at the same time may cause the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly to break.
- Lift the front of the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly to disengage the 3 clips, and then lift the rear of the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly to disengage the clip and remove the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly.
- REMOVE ECM

- DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE
- REMOVE BATTERY CLAMP SUB-ASSEMBLY
- DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY

- DISCONNECT NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE
- Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 1 radiator hose from the water outlet.
- DISCONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE
- Disengage the clamp to separate the No. 2 radiator hose.
- Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 2 radiator hose from the radiator assembly.
- DISCONNECT NO. 1 VACUUM HOSE CONNECTOR

- DISCONNECT NO. 1 FUEL VAPOR FEED HOSE
- DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE
- Pull out the retainer to disengage the lock claws and pull off the inlet heater water hose.
*a Retainer Pull out Pull off - Check that there is no foreign matter on the sealing surfaces of the disconnected water lines. Clean them if necessary.
- Cover the disconnected No. 2 water by-pass pipe sub-assembly and inlet heater water hose connector with plastic bags to prevent damage and contamination.
- Pull out the retainer to disengage the lock claws and pull off the inlet heater water hose.
- DISCONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE
- Pull out the retainer to disengage the lock claws and pull off the outlet heater water hose.
*a Retainer Pull out Pull off - Check that there is no foreign matter on the sealing surfaces of the disconnected water lines. Clean them if necessary.
- Cover the disconnected flow shutting valve (water by-pass hose assembly) and outlet heater water hose connector with plastic bags to prevent damage and contamination.
- Pull out the retainer to disengage the lock claws and pull off the outlet heater water hose.
- DISCONNECT FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Disengage the clamp to separate the fuel tube sub-assembly.
- Disconnect the fuel tube sub-assembly from the fuel pump assembly.

- Disengage the clamp to separate the fuel tube sub-assembly.
- DISCONNECT NO. 2 WATER BY-PASS HOSE
- DISCONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY

- SECURE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

- REMOVE NO. 1 SIDE RAIL REINFORCEMENT LH

- REMOVE NO. 1 SIDE RAIL REINFORCEMENT RH
HINT:
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.
- REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE
- Set the engine assembly with transaxle on an engine lifter.NOTE:
- Using height adjustment attachments and plate lift attachments, keep the engine assembly with transaxle and front suspension crossmember sub-assembly level.
- Do not perform any procedures while the engine assembly is suspended because doing so may cause the engine assembly to drop, resulting in injury. However, the engine assembly needs to be suspended when it is installed to or removed from an engine stand.
- To prevent the engine assembly from unexpectedly moving, securely support the engine assembly until it is secured to an engine stand.
- To prevent the oil pan sub-assembly from deforming, do not place any attachments under the oil pan sub-assembly of the engine assembly with transaxle.
- Remove the 2 bolts and nut and separate the engine mounting insulator sub-assembly RH from the engine mounting bracket RH.
- Remove the through bolt and nut to separate the engine mounting insulator LH from the engine mounting bracket LH.NOTE:
While holding the nut in place, loosen the through bolt.
- Remove the 6 bolts to separate the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly from the vehicle.
- Operate the engine lifter and remove the engine assembly with transaxle from the vehicle.NOTE:
- Make sure that the engine assembly with transaxle is clear of all wiring and hoses.
- While lowering the engine assembly with transaxle from the vehicle, do not allow it to contact the vehicle.
- Set the engine assembly with transaxle on an engine lifter.
- REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY GUARD
- INSTALL ENGINE HANGER
- Install the No. 1 engine hanger and No. 2 engine hanger with the 4 bolts as shown in the illustration.
Torque: 43 N.m (438 kgf/cm, 32 ft.lbf)
HINT:
No. 1 Engine Hanger 12281-25030 No. 2 Engine Hanger 12282-25010 Bolt 91552-F1040 *1 No. 1 Engine Hanger *2 No. 2 Engine Hanger Bolt - Attach an engine sling device and hang the engine assembly with transaxle with a chain block.NOTE:
- Pay attention to the angle of the sling device as the engine assembly or No. 1 engine hanger and No. 2 engine hanger may be damaged or deformed if the angle is incorrect.
- Do not perform any procedure while the engine assembly with transaxle is suspended because doing so may cause the engine assembly with transaxle to drop, resulting in injury. However, the engine assembly with transaxle needs to be suspended when it is installed to or removed from an engine stand.
- Install the No. 1 engine hanger and No. 2 engine hanger with the 4 bolts as shown in the illustration.
- REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR LH
HINT:
Perform this procedure only when replacement of the engine mounting insulator LH is necessary.
- REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
HINT:
Perform this procedure only when replacement of the engine mounting insulator sub-assembly RH is necessary.
- REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY

- REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE COVER
- REMOVE ENGINE WIRE
- DISCONNECT WATER INLET HOSE
- DISCONNECT WATER BY-PASS HOSE ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY

- REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY

- REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT

- REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY

- REMOVE COMPRESSOR WITH PULLEY ASSEMBLY

- INSTALL ENGINE TO ENGINE STAND
- Install the engine assembly to an engine stand.
- REMOVE ENGINE HANGER
- Remove the 2 bolts, No. 1 engine hanger and No. 2 engine hanger.
