Removal [10/2018 - 07/2022]: Procedure
- PRECAUTION NOTE:
After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

- SECURE VEHICLE
- Fully apply the parking brake and chock a wheel.
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2
NOTE:When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

- REMOVE AUXILIARY BATTERY

- REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13 [10/2018 - 08/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13 [08/2021 - 07/2022]
- REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT OPENING COVER
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3
- REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [10/2018 - 10/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [10/2019 - 07/2022]
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8
- REMOVE ECM
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10
- REMOVE BATTERY CLAMP
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 22 [10/2018 - 08/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 22 [08/2021 - 07/2022]
- DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
- While disengaging the clip as shown in the illustration, disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the transmission control shaft lever together with the clip.
*1 Clip *a 45° to 60° - Remove the clip to separate the transmission control cable assembly from the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket.
- While disengaging the clip as shown in the illustration, disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the transmission control shaft lever together with the clip.
- REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
- Using a piece of wood or equivalent to secure the transmission control shaft lever to prevent it from rotating, remove the nut, washer and transmission control shaft lever from the manual valve lever shaft.NOTE:
If the transmission control shaft lever is not secured when loosening the nut, the manual valve link lever sub-assembly may separate from the manual valve.
*1 Transmission Control Shaft Lever *a Manual Valve Link Lever Sub-assembly *b Manual Valve *a Piece of Wood or Equivalent - Remove the 2 bolts and park/neutral position switch assembly from the continuously variable transaxle assembly.NOTE:
Before removing the park/neutral position switch assembly, remove any dirt or rust on the installation portion of the manual valve lever shaft sub-assembly. Be sure to remove the park/neutral position switch assembly straight along the manual valve lever shaft sub-assembly while being careful not to deform the plate spring that supports the manual valve lever shaft sub-assembly. If the plate spring is deformed, the park/neutral position switch assembly cannot be reinstalled correctly.
- Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
