Rear Suspension Member: Installation

  1. INSTALL HOLE PLUG 
    1. Install the 4 hole plugs

      HINT:

      The upper and lower suspension member hole plug sizes are different

  2. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION  (See INSTALLATION )
  3. INSTALL REAR NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION  (See INSTALLATION )
  4. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for LH Side) 
    1. Apply diluted liquid soap to the outside of a new rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion.
      NOTE: Do not use grease or undiluted liquid soap. Doing so may cause the rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion to slip out.

      HINT:

      A 20% liquid hand soap and water concentration is recommended

    2. Temporarily install the rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion while confirming the installation direction

    3. Using SST, install the rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion until there is no clearance between the suspension member sub-assembly and rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion.

      SST 09570-24011, 09950-40011 (09951-04020, 09952-04010, 09953-04030, 09954-04020, 09955-04061, 09957-04010, 09958-04011), 09950-60020 (09951-00910) 

      NOTE:
      • Apply a small amount of grease to the threads of SST (center bolt) before use.
      • Do not apply excessive pressure to the center sleeve of the rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion.

  5. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for RH Side) 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  6. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for LH Side) 
    1. Apply diluted liquid soap to the outside of a new rear suspension member front body mounting cushion
      NOTE: Do not use grease or undiluted liquid soap. Doing so may cause the rear suspension member body mounting cushion to slip out.

      HINT

      A 20% liquid hand soap and water concentration is recommended

    2. Temporarily install the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion while confirming the installation direction

    3. Using SST, install the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion until there is no clearance between the suspension member sub-assembly and rear suspension member front body mounting cushion.

      SST 09570-24011, 09950-40011 (09951-04020, 09952-04010, 09953-04030, 09954-04020, 09955-04061, 09957-04010, 09958-04011), 09950-60020 (09951-00710) 

      NOTE:
      • Apply a small amount of grease to the threads of SST (center bolt) before use.

  7. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for RH Side) 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side

  8. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR UPPER STOPPER (for LH Side) 
    1. Install the rear suspension member rear upper stopper to the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

  9. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR UPPER STOPPER (for RH Side) 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  10. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER 
    1. Raise the rear suspension member using a jack with wooden blocks
    2. Temporarily install the rear suspension member, 2 rear suspension member rear lower stoppers, 2 rear suspension member lower stoppers and differential support member lower stoppers with the 8 bolts

    3. Fully tighten the 8 bolts.

      Torque: 

      Bolt A 

      127 N*m (1300 kgf*cm, 94 ft.*lbf) 

      Bolt B 

      19 N*m (195 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf) 

  11. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION REAR LOWER MEMBER BRACE LH 
    1. Install the rear suspension rear lower member brace LH with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 19 N*m (195 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf)

  12. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION REAR LOWER MEMBER BRACE RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side

  13. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  14. INSTALL HOLE SNAP RING (for LH Side)  (See INSTALLATION )
  15. INSTALL HOLE SNAP RING (for RH Side) 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side

  16. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  17. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side

  18. INSTALL REAR STABILIZER BAR  (See INSTALLATION )
  19. INSTALL REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the rear height control sensor sub-assembly to the suspension member sub-assembly with the 2 bolts

      Torque: 14 N*m (143 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf)

    2. Engage the clamp and connect the connector.

  20. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Temporarily install the rear No 2 suspension arm assembly to the rear suspension member with the bolt, nut (C), and washer.

    2. Temporarily install the stabilizer link assembly and the height control sensor link bracket to the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly with the bolt and nut (B)

      HINT:

      Fully tighten the nut after stabilizing the suspension

    3. Temporarily install the rear shock absorber with coil spring with the bolt (A) and nut.
    NOTE: Turn the bolt while holding the nut.
  21. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  22. INSTALL REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  23. INSTALL REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side

  24. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  25. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT

    Perform the same procedure as the RH side.

  26. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)  (See INSTALLATION )
  27. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side

  28. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)  (See INSTALLATION )
  29. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) 

    HINT

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side

  30. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  31. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  32. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  33. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side

  34. INSTALL NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  35. INSTALL NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY 

    HINT

    Perform the same procedure as the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly

  36. INSTALL REAR SPEED SENSOR LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  37. INSTALL REAR SPEED SENSOR RH

  45. FULLY TIGHTEN NO. 1 CENTER SUPPORT BEARING ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  46. INSPECT AND ADJUST BOTH NO. 2 AND NO. 3 JOINT ANGLES  (See INSTALLATION )
  47. INSTALL OUTSIDE AIR GUIDE PLATE RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  48. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR  (See INSTALLATION )
  49. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  50. CONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR  (See INSTALLATION )
  51. INSTALL TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  52. ADD DIFFERENTIAL OIL  (See DIFFERENTIAL OIL )
  53. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK 
  54. INSTALL FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE  (See INSTALLATION )
  55. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 FLOOR PANEL BRACE  (See INSTALLATION )
  56. INSTALL NO. 2 FLOOR UNDER COVER  (See INSTALLATION )
  57. INSTALL NO. 1 FLOOR UNDER COVER  (See INSTALLATION )
  58. STABILIZE SUSPENSION  (See INSTALLATION )
  59. FULLY TIGHTEN TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  60. FULLY TIGHTEN TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side

  61. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)  (See INSTALLATION )
  62. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  63. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)  (See INSTALLATION )

  71. INSTALL NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR  (See INSTALLATION )
  72. INSTALL NO. 1 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the No. 2 differential support protector.

  73. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE AND PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL  (See ADJUSTMENT )
  74. INSTALL REAR WHEELS 

    Torque: 103 N*m (1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf) 

  75. INSPECT AND ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT

  76. CHECK FOR SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL

  77. INSPECT AND ADJUST HEADLIGHT AIMING
