Rear Differential Carrier Assembly: Installation

  1. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE: When temporarily installing the rear differential carrier assembly and fully tightening its bolts, do not misalign the differential mount cushion bolt holes or rear differential carrier assembly bolts.
    1. Install the 2 upper rear differential mount stoppers to the rear differential carrier assembly
    2. Support the differential carrier rear assembly with a jack.
      NOTE: Do not drop the differential carrier.
    3. Using a hexagon wrench (12 mm), temporarily install the rear differential carrier assembly to the suspension member with 3 new bolts.

    4. Temporarily install the differential carrier rear to the suspension member with 2 new bolts and 2 lower rear differential mount stoppers.

    5. Using a hexagon wrench (12 mm) and torque wrench, tighten the 3 bolts to the specified torque.

      Torque: 103 N*m (1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)

    6. Using a torque wrench, tighten the 2 bolts to the specified torque.

      Torque: 95 N*m (970 kgf*cm, 70 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Make sure to tighten the bolts after checking that the upper rear differential mount stopper and lower rear differential mount stopper are not misaligned or inclined.
      • Do not tilt the inner sleeve or distort rubber parts when fully tightening the differential mount stopper.
  2. INSTALL REAR STABILIZER BAR  (See INSTALLATION )
  3. INSTALL HOLE SNAP RING  (See INSTALLATION )
  4. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  5. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side

  6. INSTALL REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION  )
  7. INSTALL REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT.

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side

  8. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION  )
  9. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  10. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  11. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT.

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  12. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)  (See INSTALLATION )
  13. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) 

    HINT.

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  14. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)  (See INSTALLATION )
  15. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) 

    HINT

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  16. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  17. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT.

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  18. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  19. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  20. INSTALL NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly to the parking brake equalizer.

    2. Install the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly to the body with the 3 bolts and 2 clamps

      Torque: Bolt (A) 

      6.0 N*m (61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf) 

      Bolt (B) 

      19 N*m (194 kgf*cm, 14 in.*lbf) 

  21. INSTALL NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the No 3 parking brake cable assembly.

  22. INSTALL REAR SPEED SENSOR LH  (See INSTALLATION  )
  23. INSTALL REAR SPEED SENSOR RH

  24. INSTALL REAR DISC (for LH Side)  (See INSTALLATION )

  30. INSTALL PROPELLER SHAFT WITH CENTER BEARING ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the propeller shaft with center bearing assembly (See INSTALLATION )
  31. STABILIZE SUSPENSION  (See INSTALLATION )
  32. FULLY TIGHTEN TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  33. FULLY TIGHTEN TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  34. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)  (See INSTALLATION )
  35. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) 

    HINT.

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side

  36. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)  (See INSTALLATION )
  37. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) 

    HINT.

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  38. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )

  48. INSTALL NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR  (See INSTALLATION )
  49. INSTALL NO. 1 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR

  50. ADD DIFFERENTIAL OIL  (See DIFFERENTIAL OIL  )
  51. INSPECT FOR DIFFERENTIAL OIL LEAK 
  52. INSTALL REAR WHEELS 

    Torque: 103 N*m (1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf) 

  53. INSPECT AND ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT

  54. CHECK ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL 

    (See TEST MODE PROCEDURE )

  55. INSPECT AND ADJUST HEADLIGHT AIMING 

    (See ADJUSTMENT )

  56. INSPECT AND ADJUST FOG LIGHT AIMING
