Test 51A - AUTOSTICK Sensor Circuit (DTC 70)

NOTE: Perform TEST 2A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Using scan tool, monitor autostick switch status. Move shift lever from "P" position to AUTOSTICK position. DO NOT  move lever to "+" or "-" position. If scan tool does not display DOWNSHIFT SWITCH OPEN, go to TEST 51B  . If scan tool does not display UPSHIFT SWITCH OPEN, go to TEST 51C  .
  2. Move shift lever to "-" position. If scan tool display does not change, go to TEST 51D  . Move shift lever to "+" position. If scan tool display does not change, go to TEST 51E  . If scan tool display is correct for all conditions, system is currently operating correctly.
