Test 51D - AUTOSTICK Sensor Circuit

NOTE: Perform TEST 51A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect autostick switch connector at base of lever. Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. Measure voltage at terminal No. 4 on switch connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace autostick switch. If voltage is 10 volts or less, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector. Use external ohmmeter. Measure resistance between terminal No. 44 on TCM connector and terminal No. 4 on autostick connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace TCM. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open downshift sense circuit.
