Test 2A - Retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes
NOTE:
Perform TEST 1A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
WARNING:
DO NOT
diagnose transmission malfunction using Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) until vehicle has passed shift lever status test. See TEST 4A
.
- If back-up lights are not functioning, go to TEST 47A . If OD Off switch is not functioning or 4th gear does not function, go to TEST 54A . Go to next step.
- Using scan tool, select TRANSMISSION, then MONITORS. Select SHIFT LEVER. Monitor scan tool display while moving shift lever through all positions. If scan tool does not match shift lever position, go to TEST 4A . If scan tool does match shift lever position, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, select READ DTCs. If no DTCs are displayed, go to TEST 46A . If DTCs between 3 and 30 are displayed, record codes and go to TEST 3A . If DTCs between 31 and 74 are displayed, record codes and go to TEST 6A . Once TEST 3A or 6A is completed, perform appropriate test. See Figure .
