Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Install the transmission to the engine. Refer to Transmission Replacement (All Wheel Drive with Diesel Engine, Equinox)Transmission Replacement (Front Wheel Drive with Diesel Engine)Transmission Replacement (All Wheel Drive with Diesel Engine, Terrain)
  2. Position the powertrain and support table under the vehicle.
  3. NOTE:

    A second technician is required.

  4. Slowly and carefully lower the vehicle, ensure the powertrain assembly is free from wiring, hoses and other engine compartment components.
  5. Fig 1: Transmission Mount And Bolts

  6. Install Transmission Mount Bolts (2) (Qty: 3). Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement - Left Side

    NOTE:

    Use a suitable device to hold the cradle while installing the fasteners.

  8. Install fasteners (1) (2) and (3). Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Replacement (Front Wheel Drive)Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Replacement (All Wheel Drive)
  9. Connect electrical connections, hoses and reposition harnesses as needed.
  10. Install Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe @ Transmission. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Replacement (MNH, MHG)
  11. Install Radiator Surge Tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LH7 FWD)Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LH7 AWD)

  13. Install Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Terminal (3) And Clamp Bolt (1) @ Transmission. Refer to Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement

  15. Connect Electrical Connectors (1) (Qty: 2) @ Power Steering Assist Motor (2)
  16. Install Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft-Right Side. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Right Side (AWD)Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Right Side (M3U, MHG, MNH, MNK with FWD)

  18. Install Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft-Left Side (1). Refer to Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Left Side
  19. Connect Stabilizer Shaft Link (Qty: 2) @ Stabilizer Shaft. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (Equinox)Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (Terrain)
  20. Connect the steering intermediate shaft to the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (Equinox)Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (Terrain)
  21. Install Power Transfer Unit Case. Refer to Power Transfer Unit Case Replacement (MHG Transmission with LH7 Engine)
  22. CAUTION:

    Do not disconnect the nitrogen oxide sensor from the nitrogen oxide sensor control module. A separation of the two components may cause a defect on the nitrogen oxide sensor control module. Always replace the nitrogen oxide sensor along with the nitrogen oxide sensor control module as an assembly.

  23. Install Nitrogen Oxides Sensor - Position 1. Refer to Nitrogen Oxides Sensor Replacement - Position 1

  25. Connect Heater Inlet Hose (2) @ Heater Core. Refer to Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LH7 Terrain)Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LH7 Equinox)

  37. Connect Radiator Outlet Hose (2) @ Engine. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LH7)

  41. Connect the electrical connector (1) at the engine oil heater (2).

  50. Install the air cleaner assembly (2). Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
  51. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement
  52. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9)
  53. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static)
  54. Recharge the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-134a)Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf)
  55. Change the engine oil and filter. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement 
  56. When the replacement is completed, use a scan tool to perform the appropriate reset functions. Refer to Control Module References
