Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .
  3. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) oil separator. Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Oil Separator Assembly Replacement .
  4. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) pipe. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Pipe Replacement .
  5. Remove the charge air cooler outlet hose from the throttle body and lay aside. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose Replacement .
  6. Remove the heater inlet hose from the engine block and lay aside. Refer to Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (2.0L Diesel LUZ) , Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (1.4L LUV) and Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (1.8L LUW and LWE) .
  7. Remove the heater outlet hose from the engine block and lay aside. Refer to Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (1.4L LUV) , Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (1.8L LUW) , Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (1.8L LWE) and Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (2.0L Diesel LUZ) .
  8. Release the engine electrical harness retainers from the exhaust pressure sensor pipe.
  9. Remove the 2 clamps (2).

  10. Remove the 2 hoses (4) from the exhaust pressure sensor (1).
  11. Remove the 4 exhaust pressure sensor pipe bolts (3, 6, 7).
  12. Lay the exhaust pressure sensor pipe (5) aside.
  13. Remove the EGR valve cooler. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Cooler Replacement .
  14. Remove the 2 clamps (2).

  15. Remove the 2 hoses (3) from the 2 converter pressure tubes (1).
