Installation Procedure

- Align the engine to the transmission.
- Install the powertrain assembly to the vehicle.
- Install the cradle bolts. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Replacement .
- Remove the engine support table.
- Remove the wood blocks from the cradle.
- Install the lower transaxle-to-engine bolts and tighten to 75 N.m (55 lb ft).
- For AWD, install the transfer case. Refer to Transfer Case Replacement .
- For AWD, install the propeller shaft. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement .
- Install the torque convertor-to-flywheel bolts and tighten to 62 N.m (46 lb ft).
- Install the torque convertor inspection cover and tighten the bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
- Install the left and right axle shaft nuts. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side and Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side .
- Install the left and right stabilizer bar links. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
- Install the left and right tie rod ends to the steering knuckles. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement .
- Connect the left and right lower ball joints. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .
- Connect the steering shaft coupling from the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement .
- Install the start. Refer to Starter Replacement (LF1) or Starter Replacement (LAU)
- Connect the transmission cooler lines to the transmission.
- install the radiator outlet hose. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LF1) or Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LAU)
- install the radiator inlet hose. Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LF1) or Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LAU)
- Install the radiator surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LF1) or Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LAU)
- Connect the transmission fluid cooler Inlet pipe. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement
- Install the A/C compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LF1) or Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LAU) .
- Install the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
- Install the front tires. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the fuel EVAP line.
- Connect the fuel feed line. Refer to Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement .
- Install the starter positive cable and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Connect the coolant reservoir hose from the engine to reservoir.
- Connect the A/C high pressure switch harness.
- Connect the generator positive cable and nut and tighten to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
- Install the ECM. Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement .
- Fill the vehicle with coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill LF1) or Cooling System Draining and Filling - Vac-N-Fill (GE 47716) or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill LAU) .
- Fill the vehicle with engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (LF1) or Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (LAU) .
- Connect the wiring harness to the underhood junction block. Refer to Accessory Wiring Junction Block Replacement .
- Connect the transmission shiftier cable.
- Install the battery box and battery. Refer to Battery Replacement .
- Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (LF1) or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (LAU) .
- Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement .
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Perform the throttle learn procedure. Refer to Throttle/Idle Learn (LF1, LFW) or Throttle/Idle Learn (Without LF1, LFW) .
