Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LF1)

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  3. Remove front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement .
  4. Remove the drive belt from the compressor. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  5. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
  6. Remove the air conditioning condenser and evaporator hose from the compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Condenser and Evaporator Hose Replacement (LF1) 
1 A/C Compressor Bolt
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Tighten:  58 N.m (43 lb ft)

2 A/C Compressor Nut

Tighten:  22 N.m (12 lb ft)

3 A/C Compressor Bolt

Tighten:  58 N.m (43 lb ft)

4 A/C Compressor

Procedure

  1. Remove and discard sealing washers. Refer to Air Conditioning System Seal Replacement .
  2. When replacing the A/C compressor, balance the compressor oil. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Oil Balancing .
