51 11 157 Replacing front bumper trim

Necessary Preliminary Tasks:

Remove front bumper trim. Refer to 51 11 156 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT BUMPER TRIM .

Remove cover cap (1) for tow lug.

Remove cover for headlight cleaning system (2). Refer to 51 11 ... REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING COVER FOR HEADLIGHT CLEANING SYSTEM ON LEFT .

Remove front radiator grille (3) on left/right. Refer to 51 13 001 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FRONT RADIATOR GRILL, MIDDLE LEFT OR RIGHT .

Remove front fog lamps (4) on left/right (not M5). Refer to 63 17 060 REMOVING AND INSTALLING (REPLACING) LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT FOG LAMP .

If necessary, remove license plate (5). Refer to 51 11 ... INSTALLING/REPLACING LICENSE PLATE (WITHOUT BASE) .

If necessary, remove baseplate for license plate. Refer to 51 11 158 REPLACING BASEPLATE FOR LICENCE PLATE .

Installation:

Marker lines are located on inside of bumper for equipment with M and M5 aerodynamic kits. These lines denote the drilling position for the license plate baseplate.

If necessary, remove wiring harness and PDC ultrasonic sensor (6).66 20 520 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING AN ULTRASONIC TRANSDUCER AT FRONT (PARK DISTANCE CONTROL) .

Remove damping lip/spoiler (7).

If equipped with M aerodynamic kit:

Remove front fog lamp trim. Refer to 51 11 ... REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FRONT FOG LAMP TRIM (M AERODYNAMIC KIT) .

Remove grille in bumper trim. Refer to 51 11 180 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING GRILLE IN BUMPER TRIM (M5 OR M AERODYNAMIC KIT) .

M5 only:

Remove grille in bumper trim.
