Disassembly [08/2015 - 08/2017]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - ] ).

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).

  3. REMOVE BACK DOOR GRIP 
    1. Using moulding remover A, detach the 5 claws.

    2. Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 "TORX" screws.

    3. Detach the claw and remove the back door grip.
  4. REMOVE LOWER BACK DOOR STOPPER CUSHION 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 lower back door stopper cushions.

  5. REMOVE CENTER BACK DOOR GARNISH 
    1. Detach the 5 clips and 4 claws, and remove the back door garnish.

  6. REMOVE CENTER STOP LIGHT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  7. REMOVE BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH LH 
    1. Detach the 3 clips and 2 claws, and remove the back door side garnish.

  8. REMOVE BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  9. REMOVE BACK DOOR GARNISH 
    1. Using a clip remover, detach the 14 clips and remove the back door garnish in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration.

  10. REMOVE REAR HEADER SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  11. REMOVE REAR WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  12. REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR GROMMET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  13. REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  14. REMOVE BACK DOOR LOCK COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  15. REMOVE BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  16. REMOVE LICENSE PLATE LIGHT LENS 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  17. REMOVE BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    See step  1

  18. REMOVE REAR TELEVISION CAMERA ASSEMBLY (w/ Parking Assist Monitor System or Rear View Monitor System) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  19. REMOVE LIFT GATE WEATHERSTRIP 
    1. Detach the 25 clips and remove the lift gate weatherstrip.

      NOTE:

      Do not pull strongly on the weatherstrip as it may tear.

  20. REMOVE CUSHION 
    1. Remove the 2 cushions.

  21. REMOVE LOWER BACK DOOR STOPPER 
    1. Remove the bolt and lower back door stopper.

  24. REMOVE BACK DOOR OUTSIDE GARNISH SUBASSEMBLY

  25. REMOVE REAR SPOILER SUBASSEMBLY (w/ Rear Spoiler) 
    1. Remove the rear spoiler subassembly (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).
  26. REMOVE REAR WASHER NOZZLE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  27. REMOVE BACK DOOR STAY ASSEMBLY LH 

    See step  1 , or see step  1

  28. REMOVE BACK DOOR STAY ASSEMBLY RH

  29. REMOVE REAR FLOOR MAT REAR SUPPORT PLATE

  30. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM COVER LH 
    1. Remove the back door trim cover LH as shown in the illustration.

    2. Detach the 16 clips and remove the back door trim panel.
  33. REMOVE REAR BUMPER COVER 
    1. Remove the bumper cover (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2016 - ] ).
  34. REMOVE SPARE TIRE 
  35. REMOVE LOWER BACK DOOR TORSION BAR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and lower back door torsion bar.

  36. REMOVE BACK DOOR TORSION BAR GUIDE 
    1. Detach the 2 claws and remove the back door torsion bar guide.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the lower tail gate lock.

  39. REMOVE BACK DOOR REMOTE CONTROL ASSEMBLY

    2. Disconnect the left side cable.

    3. Remove the back door remote control.
  40. REMOVE LOWER TAIL GATE LOCK ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Using a T30 "TORX" wrench, remove the 3 screws and lower tail gate lock.

  41. REMOVE TAIL GATE STAY SUBASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Using a T40 "TORX" socket, remove the 2 screws and tail gate stay.
