Removal [12/2015 - 08/2016]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL ENGINE ON ENGINE STAND 
    1. Install the engine onto an engine stand with the bolts.
  2. REMOVE ENGINE HANGER 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 engine hangers.

      *1 No. 1 engine hanger
      *2 No. 2 engine hanger
      *a Bank 1
      *b Bank 2
  3. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  4. REMOVE NO. 1 SURGE TANK STAY 
    1. Remove the bolt and No. 1 surge tank stay.

  5. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY BRACKET 
    1. Remove the bolt and throttle body bracket.

  6. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  7. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE MOUNTING STAY RH 
    1. Remove the bolt and No. 2 engine mounting stay RH.

  8. REMOVE FUEL HOSE PROTECTOR 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and nut, and then remove the fuel hose protector.

  9. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD 
    1. Uniformly loosen and remove the 6 bolts and 4 nuts.

    2. Remove the intake manifold and 2 gaskets.
  10. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Uniformly loosen and remove the 6 nuts.

    2. Remove the exhaust manifold sub-assembly RH and gasket.
  11. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE 
    1. Remove the oil level dipstick.

    2. Remove the bolt and No. 2 engine oil level dipstick guide.
    3. Remove the O-ring from the No. 2 engine oil level dipstick guide.

  12. REMOVE NO. 2 MANIFOLD STAY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

  13. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15

  14. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Uniformly loosen and remove the 6 nuts.

    2. Remove the exhaust manifold assembly LH and gasket.
  15. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT TENSIONER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 5 bolts and V-ribbed belt tensioner assembly.

  16. REMOVE NO. 2 TIMING GEAR COVER 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 timing gear cover.

  17. REMOVE WATER PUMP PULLEY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  18. REMOVE NO. 2 IDLER PULLEY SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt, No. 2 idler pulley cover plate, No. 2 idler pulley sub-assembly and idler pulley cover plate.

  19. REMOVE NO. 1 VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and No. 1 vacuum switching valve.

  20. REMOVE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a deep socket wrench, remove the engine oil pressure switch assembly.

  21. REMOVE KNOCK SENSOR WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the 2 knock sensor connectors and knock sensor wire connector.

    2. Disconnect the 2 clamps and remove the knock sensor wire from the engine assembly.
  22. REMOVE KNOCK SENSOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  23. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8
