Roof Headlining: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system (See AIRBAG SYSTEM ).
  2. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  3. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE STEERING PAD  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (See  DISASSEMBLY  ) 
  8. REMOVE METER HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 
    1. Disengage the 8 claws and remove the front door scuff plate LH.

  11. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH 
    1. Disengage the clip and claw, and remove the cowl side trim board LH.

  12. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH 
    1. Remove the front door opening trim weatherstrip LH.

  13. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (w/o Curtain Shield Airbag) 
    1. Pull the upper part of the garnish toward the inside of the cabin and disengage the 2 clips.
    2. Disengage the 2 guides and remove the front pillar garnish LH.

  14. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (w/ Curtain Shield Airbag) 
    1. Pull the upper part of the garnish toward the inside of the cabin and disengage the 2 clips.
    2. Cut off the clip <A>.
    3. Disengage the 2 guides and remove the front pillar garnish LH.
    4. Remove the clip <A> from the vehicle body.

    5. Protect the curtain shield airbag assembly.
      1. Cover the airbag with a 700 mm (27.5 in.) x 120 mm (4.72 in.) cloth or piece of nylon and secure the ends of the cover with tape, as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE: Cover the curtain shield airbag with a protective cover as soon as the front pillar garnish is removed.
  15. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  16. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  17. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  18. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH (w/o Curtain Shield Airbag) 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  19. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH (w/ Curtain Shield Airbag) 
    1. Pull the upper part of the garnish toward the inside of the cabin and disengage the 2 clips.
    2. Cut off the clip <A>.
    3. Disengage the 2 guides and remove the front pillar garnish RH.
    4. Remove the clip <A> from the vehicle body.

    5. Protect the curtain shield airbag assembly.
      1. Cover the airbag with a 700 mm (27.5 in.) x 120 mm (4.72 in.) cloth or piece of nylon and secure the ends of the cover with tape, as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE: Cover the curtain shield airbag with a protective cover as soon as the front pillar garnish is removed.
  20. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  21. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  22. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  23. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  24. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle) (See  DISASSEMBLY  )

  25. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY (See  DISASSEMBLY  )

  27. DISCONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )

  29. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 
    1. Disengage the 6 claws and remove the rear door scuff plate LH.

    1. Remove the rear door opening trim weatherstrip LH.
  31. REMOVE LAP BELT OUTER ANCHOR COVER (for Driver Side)  (See REMOVAL )
  32. DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )

  33. REMOVE LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LH 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws and 2 clips, and remove the lower center pillar garnish LH.

  34. REMOVE UPPER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LH 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.
    2. Using a clip remover, disengage the clip and remove the upper center pillar garnish LH.
  35. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  36. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

    1. Disengage the 2 guides and remove the deck board assembly.

    1. Remove the bolt.
    2. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the deck floor box RH.

    1. Remove the 2 bolts.
    2. Remove the luggage compartment tray.

    1. Disengage the 8 claws and 2 guides, and remove the rear deck trim cover.

    1. Disengage the 4 claws and clip and guide, and remove the rear seat side garnish LH.

  66. REMOVE NO. 1 LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM HOOK (for LH Side) 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.
    2. Disengage the claws, and remove the 2 No. 1 luggage compartment trim hooks.

    1. Disengage the 4 claws and 2 guides, and remove the rear combination light service cover LH.

    1. Disengage the 2 claws, 3 clips and 2 guides, and remove the quarter pillar garnish LH.

    1. Disengage the 7 clips and remove the roof side inner garnish LH.

    1. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 claws and remove the visor bracket cover.

    2. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the visor assembly LH.
    3. Remove the 2 clips from the vehicle body.

  89. REMOVE FRONT ASSIST GRIP SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Curtain Shield Airbag) 
    1. Using a clip remover, disengage the 4 claws.
      NOTE: Do not forcibly pry the assist grip covers to prevent them from being deformed.

      HINT:

      • Gently pry on the assist grip covers as shown in the illustration to remove them.
      • Tape the clip remover tip before use.
    2. Pull off the 2 assist grip covers by hand.

    3. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the front assist grip sub-assembly.
    4. Remove the 2 clips from the vehicle body.

  90. REMOVE FRONT ASSIST GRIP SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Curtain Shield Airbag) 
    1. Using a clip remover, disengage the 4 claws.
      NOTE: Do not forcibly pry the assist grip covers to prevent them from being deformed.

      HINT:

      • Gently pry on the assist grip covers as shown in the illustration to remove them.
      • Tape the clip remover tip before use.
    2. Pull off the 2 assist grip covers by hand.

    3. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the 2 front assist grip sub-assembly.
    4. Remove the 2 clips from the vehicle body.

      HINT:

      Use the same procedure for the RH side and the LH side.

  91. REMOVE REAR ASSIST GRIP ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a clip remover, disengage the 4 claws.
      NOTE: Do not forcibly pry the assist grip covers to prevent them from being deformed.

      HINT:

      • Gently pry on the assist grip covers as shown in the illustration to remove them.
      • Tape the clip remover tip before use.
    2. Pull off the 2 assist grip covers by hand.

    3. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the rear assist grip assembly.
    4. Remove the 2 clips from the vehicle body.

      HINT:

      Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  92. REMOVE VISOR HOLDER 
    1. Turn the visor holder approximately 45° and pull it out as shown in the illustration.
    2. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the visor holder.

      HINT:

      Use the same procedure for the RH side and the LH side.

  93. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY (w/o Sliding Roof) 
    1. w/ EC Mirror:
      1. Disconnect the inner rear view mirror connector.
    2. Disengage each clamp from the front pillar LH.
    3. Disconnect the No. 1 roof wire connectors from the instrument panel junction block.

    4. Disconnect the antenna cord sub-assembly connector and disengage each clamp from the front pillar RH.
    5. Disconnect the antenna cord sub-assembly connectors and remove the bolt from the rear pillar RH.
    6. Remove the 2 clips.

    7. Remove the roof headlining assembly from the vehicle through the back door.
    NOTE: Do not damage the roof headlining assembly or body interior.
  94. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY (w/ Sliding Roof) 
    1. w/ EC Mirror:
      1. Disconnect the inner rear view mirror connector.
    2. Disengage each clamp from the front pillar LH.

    3. Disconnect the No. 1 roof wire connectors from the instrument panel junction block.
    4. Disconnect the antenna cord sub-assembly connector and disengage each clamp from the front pillar RH.
    5. Disconnect the antenna cord sub-assembly connectors and remove the bolt from the rear pillar RH.
    6. Disconnect the sliding roof drive gear connector.
    7. Remove the 2 clips.

    8. Remove the roof headlining assembly from the vehicle through the back door.
    NOTE: Do not damage the roof headlining assembly or body interior.

  95. REMOVE NO. 1 ROOF SILENCER PAD (w/o Sliding Roof) 
    1. Remove the 3 No. 1 roof silencer pads from the roof headlining assembly.

    1. Remove the adhesive tape from the roof headlining assembly.
    2. Disengage the 3 clamps, and remove the No. 1 roof wire from the roof headlining assembly.
