Front Passenger Airbag Assembly: Removal
- PRECAUTION CAUTION: Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing (See PRECAUTION ).
- REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX DOOR SUB-ASSEMBLY
HINT:
Refer to the procedure up to Remove No. 1 Instrument Panel Box Door Sub-assembly (See REMOVAL ).
- DISCONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY
- Check that the ignition switch is off.
- Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
- Disconnect the connector.
NOTE: When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness. - REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT ASSEMBLY (See DISASSEMBLY )
- REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 2 screws.
- Lean the instrument panel as shown the illustration and disengage the 5 hooks.
- Disengage the 5 hooks and remove the front passenger airbag assembly from the upper instrument panel sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY
- Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, disconnect the 2 airbag connectors and remove the clamp.NOTE: When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
- Remove the clamp and instrument panel wire assembly from the front passenger airbag assembly.
- Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, disconnect the 2 airbag connectors and remove the clamp.
