Cylinder Head Gasket: Removal

- REMOVE ENGINE AND TRANSAXLE
- Remove the engine and transaxle (See REMOVAL ).
- REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD ASSEMBLY
- Remove the exhaust manifold assembly (See REMOVAL ).
- REMOVE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY (See INSPECTION )
- REMOVE NO. 1 VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY (See INSPECTION )
- DISCONNECT NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE CAMSHAFT
- Remove the camshafts (See REMOVAL ).
- REMOVE VALVE STEM CAP
- Remove the 16 valve stem caps from the cylinder head.
HINT:
Arrange the removed parts in the correct order.
- Remove the 16 valve stem caps from the cylinder head.
- REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Using a 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench, uniformly loosen the 10 bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration. Remove the 10 cylinder head bolts and plate washers.
HINT:
Be sure to keep the removed parts separate for each installation position.
NOTE:- Be careful not to drop washers into the cylinder head.
- Head warpage or cracking could result from removing bolts in an incorrect order.
- Remove the cylinder head.
- Using a 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench, uniformly loosen the 10 bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration. Remove the 10 cylinder head bolts and plate washers.
- REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD GASKET
- Remove the cylinder head gasket from the cylinder block.
