Instrument Panel Safety Pad: Installation

  1. INSTALL NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX CUP HOLDER 
    1. Install the No. 2 console box cup holder.

  2. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL CUP HOLDER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the instrument panel cup holder assembly with the 4 screws < G >.

  3. INSTALL NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL STAY 
    1. Engage the claw and install the 5 No. 3 instrument panel stays.

  4. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD ASSEMBLY (for Pole Antenna Type) 
    1. Engage the 5 claws.
      NOTE: Do not allow the wire harness to get caught in the claws.
    2. Install the 2 bolts < D > and nut < H >.
    3. Install the 2 clips.

    4. Engage each clamp.
    5. Install the 2 passenger airbag bolts < A >.

      Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

    6. Install the bolt < E >.
    7. Connect each connector and install the instrument panel safety pad assembly.

  5. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD ASSEMBLY (for Glass Antenna Type) 
    1. Engage the 5 claws.
      NOTE: Do not allow the wire harness to get caught in the claws.
    2. Install the 2 bolts < D > and nut < H >.
    3. Install the 2 clips.

    4. Engage each clamp.
    5. Install the 2 passenger airbag bolts < A >.

      Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

    6. Connect each connector and install the instrument panel safety pad assembly.

  6. CONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  7. INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)  (See REMOVAL )
  8. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 2 guides.
    2. Engage the 2 claws and 2 clips, and install the No. 1 instrument panel speaker panel sub-assembly.
  9. INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and the LH side.

  10. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 2 guides.
    2. Engage the 2 claws and 2 clips, and install the No. 2 instrument panel speaker panel sub-assembly.
  11. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  12. CONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  13. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  14. CONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  15. INSTALL ENGINE SWITCH (w/ Smart Key System)  (See INSTALLATION )

  16. INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT 
    1. Engage the claw and 2 guides.
    2. Install the front No. 2 console box insert with the 3 screws < F > and clip.

  17. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT 
    1. Engage the claw and 2 guides.
    2. Install the front No. 1 console box insert with the 3 screws < F > and 2 clips.
  18. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (w/o Rear Air Conditioning System)  (See INSTALLATION )
  19. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (w/ Rear Air Conditioning System)  (See INSTALLATION )
  20. INSTALL LOWER REAR CONSOLE BOX  (See INSTALLATION )

  21. INSTALL NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX DUCT (w/o Rear Air Conditioning System) 
    1. Install the No. 2 console box duct as shown in the illustration.

  22. INSTALL UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connector.
    2. Engage the 4 claws and 4 clips, and install the upper console panel sub-assembly.
  23. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect each connector and clamp.

    2. Engage the 4 claws and 3 clips.
    3. Install the lower instrument panel sub-assembly with the 2 bolts < B > and 3 screws < F >.

  24. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 2 guides.
    2. Engage the 3 claws and install the No. 2 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.
  25. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  26. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH  (See INSTALLATION )

  27. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Air Conditioning System) 
    1. Connect the hood lock control cable assembly.
    2. Connect each connector.
    3. Engage the 3 claws and 10 clips.
    4. Install the lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly with the 2 bolts < B >.

  28. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Air Conditioning System) 
    1. Connect the hood lock control cable assembly.
    2. Connect each connector and the aspirator duct.

    3. Engage the 3 claws and 10 clips.
    4. Install the lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly with the 2 bolts < B >.

  30. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  31. INSTALL RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (w/o Navigation System)  (See INSTALLATION )
  32. INSTALL NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (w/ Navigation System)  (See INSTALLATION )
  33. INSTALL HEATER CONTROL AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY (for Manual Air Conditioning System)  (See AIR CONDITIONING PANEL (FOR MANUAL AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM) )
  34. INSTALL AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Air Conditioning System)  (See REMOVAL )

  35. INSTALL CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (w/o Smart Key System) 
    1. Apply protective tape to the areas shown in the illustration.
    2. Connect each connector.
    3. Engage the 10 claws and 8 clips, and install the center instrument cluster finish panel assembly.
      NOTE: Do not the damage the instrument panel safety pad assembly and lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly.

  36. INSTALL CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (w/ Smart Key System) 
    1. Apply protective tape to the areas shown in the illustration.
    2. Connect each connector.
    3. Engage the 10 claws and 8 clips, and install the center instrument cluster finish panel assembly.
      NOTE: Do not the damage the instrument panel safety pad assembly and lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly.

  37. INSTALL CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 2 claws and 5 clips, and install the center instrument panel register assembly.
  38. INSTALL COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connector.

    2. Install the combination meter assembly with the 4 screws < F >.

  39. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 4 claws and 4 clips, and install the instrument cluster finish panel assembly.
  40. POSITION FRONT WHEELS STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  41. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  42. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER  (See INSTALLATION )
  43. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  44. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
