Rear Differential Carrier Assembly: Installation

  1. INSTALL NO. 1 REAR DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT 
    1. Install the No. 1 rear differential support to the rear differential carrier assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 lock nuts.

      Torque: 103 N*m (1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)

  2. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Jack up the rear differential carrier assembly and rear suspension member sub-assembly with a jack.
    2. Connect the No. 1 rear differential support to the rear suspension member sub-assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 lock nuts.

      Torque: 137 N*m (1400 kgf*cm, 101 ft.*lbf)

    3. Install the rear differential carrier assembly to the rear suspension member sub-assembly with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 95 N*m (970 kgf*cm, 70 ft.*lbf) 

  3. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  4. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER  (See INSTALLATION )
  5. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT SNAP RING LH  (See INSTALLATION )

  6. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT SNAP RING RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  7. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  8. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  9. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  10. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  11. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  12. INSTALL REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  13. INSTALL REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  14. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR STRUT ROD ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)  (See INSTALLATION )
  15. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR STRUT ROD ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  16. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  17. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  18. INSTALL REAR DISC (for LH Side)  (See REASSEMBLY )
  19. INSTALL REAR DISC (for RH Side)

  20. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH  (See REPLACEMENT )

  22. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  23. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT RH

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  24. INSTALL REAR SPEED SENSOR LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  25. INSTALL REAR SPEED SENSOR RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  26. STABILIZE SUSPENSION  (See INSTALLATION )
  27. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  28. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  29. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  30. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  31. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR STRUT ROD ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)  (See INSTALLATION )
  32. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR STRUT ROD ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  33. INSTALL NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  34. INSTALL NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

  35. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH  (See REPLACEMENT )
  36. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  37. REMOVE REAR DISC (for LH Side)  (See DISASSEMBLY )
  38. REMOVE REAR DISC (for RH Side) 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  39. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS (for LH Side)  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  40. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS (for RH Side) 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  41. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB RUNOUT (for LH Side)  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  42. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB RUNOUT (for RH Side) 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  43. INSTALL REAR DISC (for LH Side)  (See REASSEMBLY )
  44. INSTALL REAR DISC (for RH Side) 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  45. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH (for LH Side)  (See REPLACEMENT )
  46. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY RH (for RH Side) 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  47. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT LH (for LH Side)  (See INSTALLATION )
  48. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT RH (for RH Side) 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  49. INSTALL CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  50. INSTALL TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  51. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  52. FULLY TIGHTEN PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  53. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL DRAIN PLUG 
    1. Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), install the filler plug with a new gasket.

    Torque: 49 N*m (500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf) 

  54. ADD DIFFERENTIAL OIL 
    1. Fill the rear differential carrier assembly with hypoid gear oil.
  55. INSPECT DIFFERENTIAL OIL  (See DIFFERENTIAL OIL  )

  56. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL FILLER PLUG 
    1. Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), install the filler plug with a new gasket.

    Torque: 49 N*m (500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf) 

  57. INSPECT AND ADJUST TRANSFER OIL  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  58. INSTALL REAR WHEEL 

    Torque: 103 N*m (1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)

  59. INSPECT REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT 

    (See ADJUSTMENT )

  60. CHECK FOR REAR SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL 

    (See TEST MODE PROCEDURE )

  61. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK  (See INSTALLATION )
