Instrument Panel Assembly: Removal

CAUTION:
  • Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM"  . Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>General Description>CAUTION .
  • Be careful not to damage the airbag system harness when servicing the instrument panel. Damage may cause the system to malfunction  .
  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
    NOTE:
    • Shift the select lever into "N" before disconnecting the ground terminal from the battery sensor  .
    • For the power seat model, remove the console box before removing the ground terminal from the battery sensor  .
  2. Remove the cover assembly front and the console box assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Console Box>REMOVAL 
  3. Remove the grille ventilation assembly center, Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>Air Vent Grille>REMOVAL>CENTER GRILLE ASSEMBLY .
  4. Remove the switch assembly hazard. Ref. to LIGHTING SYSTEM>Hazard Switch>REMOVAL .
  5. Remove the audio assembly or navigation assembly, Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>Audio>REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the heater control assembly. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>Control Panel>REMOVAL
  7. Remove the cover side sill front FR and the cover side sill front RR. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Lower Inner Trim>REMOVAL .
  8. Remove the glove box assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Glove Box>REMOVAL 
  9. Remove the cover LWR driver. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>instrument Panel Lower Cover>REMOVAL .
  10. Remove the knee airbag module. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>Knee Airbag Module>REMOVAL .
  11. Remove the visor assembly and the combination meter assembly. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>Combination Meter>REMOVAL .
  12. Remove the right and left trim panel assembly A pillars. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Upper Inner Trim>REMOVAL .
  13. Remove the right and left grille speaker sides and the speaker assembly CTR. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>Front Speaker>REMOVAL>TWEETER .
  14. Remove the grille defroster front assembly. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>Multi-function Display (MFD)>REMOVAL .
  15. Remove the driver's airbag module. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>Driver's Airbag Module>REMOVAL .
  16. Remove the steering wheel. Ref. to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>Steering Wheel>REMOVAL .
  17. Remove the column cover assembly and the combination switch. Ref. to LIGHTING SYSTEM>Combination Switch (Light)>REMOVAL
  18. Remove the panel starter switch and the push button ignition switch. (Model with keyless access with push button start) Ref. to SECURITY AND LOCKS>Push Button Ignition Switch>REMOVAL .
  19. Remove the cover starter switch. (Model without keyless access with push button start)

  20. Remove the cover center socket. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>Center Console>REMOVAL 
  21. Remove the universal joint assembly steering. (If removing the beam steering COMPL) Ref. to POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM (POWER STEERING)>Universal Joint>REMOVAL
  22. Remove the column assembly steering. (If removing the beam steering COMPL) Ref. to WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEMS>Combination Switch (Wiper)>REMOVAL .
  23. Remove the bolts of the passenger's airbag module, and disconnect the connector.

  24. Remove the reinforcement meter.

  25. Remove the EyeSight assist monitor.

  26. Remove the panel COMPL instrument.
    1. Remove the harness clamp.
      NOTE: Confirm the harness routing.
    2. Remove the screws, and remove the panel COMPL instrument.

  27. Remove the body side weather strip flange front.
  28. Remove the beam steering COMPL.
    CAUTION: The beam steering COMPL is heavy. Always work in a team of two persons when removing them from the vehicle, so as not to damage the vehicle interior  .
    1. Remove the fuse box.
    2. Disconnect all harness clamps and connectors of the instrument panel harness.
    3. Release all lock points for the ground bolt, heater & cooling unit assembly and the beam steering COMPL.
    4. Remove the TORX® bolt.

      PREPARATION TOOL

    5. Remove the bolts at the floor center.

    6. Loosen the adjuster portion (a) of the adjuster clip space. (Only RH side of the beam steering COMPL)

      PREPARATION TOOL 

      Hexagon wrench: 8 mm (0.31 in)

    7. Slightly lift it up to detach the left and right pins, and then pull it toward you to remove together with the beam steering COMPL.
    CAUTION:
    • Check that all lock points for the harness clamps, harness connectors and the beam steering COMPL have been released completely  .
    • The instrument panel assembly and the beam steering COMPL are heavy. Always work in a team of two persons when removing them from the vehicle, so as not to damage the vehicle interior  .

  29. Remove the tapping screws and release the claws, and remove the passenger's airbag module.

  30. Remove the ventilation duct as required.
