Adjust Liftgate - AR72.20-P-0002SRA

  Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
INSPECT Check     
1 Check whether upper liftgate (1) and lower liftgate (8) can be closed easily and the gap dimensions are with the tolerance range   AR60.00-P-0700-01SR

REMOVING Remove     
2 Remove check straps (9) from side lock striker (10) To adjust lower liftgate (8). AR72.20-P-2571SRA 
3 Remove side lock striker (10) To adjust lower liftgate (8).  
4 Lower headliner To adjust upper liftgate (1). AR68.30-P-4300SRA
5 Remove rear spoiler To adjust upper liftgate (1). AR72.20-P-4000SRA 
6 Remove upper lock striker (5) To adjust upper liftgate (1).  
7 Remove both gas-filled struts from upper liftgate (1) To adjust upper liftgate (1).
IMPORTANT Helper required to hold upper liftgate (1).		 AR72.20-P-2832SR 
  Adjusting lower liftgate     
8 Loosen bolts (11) from hinges (6) IMPORTANT It should be possible to move the lower liftgate (8).  
9 Align lower liftgate (8) and tighten bolts (11)   AR60.00-P-0700-01SR
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt/nut, liftgate hinge to liftgate *BA72.20-P-1002-03SR 
    SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Figure
10 Loosen nuts (7) on hinges (6) IMPORTANT It should be possible to move the lower liftgate (8).  
11 Align lower liftgate (8) and tighten nuts (7)   AR60.00-P-0700-01SR
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt/nut, liftgate hinge to rear center section *BA72.20-P-1005-03SR

  Adjusting upper liftgate     
12 Loosen nuts (3) on hinges (2) IMPORTANT It should be possible to move the upper liftgate (1).  
13 Align upper liftgate (1) and tighten nuts (3) IMPORTANT Helper required to hold upper liftgate (1). AR60.00-P-0700-01SR
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt/nut, liftgate hinge to liftgate *BA72.20-P-1002-03SR

14 Loosen nuts (4) on hinges (2) IMPORTANT It should be possible to move the upper liftgate (1).  
15 Align upper liftgate (1) and tighten nuts (4) IMPORTANT Helper required to hold upper liftgate (1). AR60.00-P-0700-01SR
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt/nut, liftgate hinge to roof frame *BA72.20-P-1001-03SR 
    SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Figure
INSPECT Check     
16 Check whether upper liftgate (1) and lower liftgate (8) can be closed easily and the gap dimensions are with the tolerance range IMPORTANT If necessary, repeat adjustment.

INSTALLING Install     
17 Install side lock strikers (10)    
18 Remove check straps (9) from side lock strikers (10)   AR72.20-P-2571SRA 
  Adjust     
19 Adjust transition between lower liftgate (8) and edges to taillamp covers and B-pillars by moving side lock stroker (10) IMPORTANT The transition must be flush.  
INSTALLING Install     
20 Install upper lock striker (5) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, lock striker to liftgate window *BA72.20-P-1006-03SR 
  Adjust     
21 Adjust transition between upper liftgate (1) and lower liftgate (8) by moving lock striker (5) IMPORTANT The transition must be flush.  
INSTALLING Install     
22 Install rear spoiler   AR72.20-P-4000SRA 
23 Install headliner   AR68.30-P-4300SRA
24 Install both gas-filled struts on upper liftgate (1)   AR72.20-P-2832SR 
TEST AND ADJUSTMENT VALUES FOR GAP DIMENSIONS
