REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove overhead control panel control unit (N70) or overhead control panel electronics (N70/3)

2 Remove rain/light sensor cover (1)    
3 Remove inside rearview mirror (A67)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR68.40-P-0001SX
4 Remove bracket for inside rearview mirror (A67) IMPORTANT The bracket for the inside rearview mirror (A67) is secured with three screws.  
5 Remove left sun visor (2)    
6 Remove upper left A-pillar trim (3)    
7 Remove left side cover from instrument panel SPECIAL TOOL Mounting wedge Fig 2
8 Remove left front door sill

9 Detach edge guard (4) in area of left A-pillar and left front door sill    
10 Remove lower left A-pillar trim (5)    
11 Remove trim under instrument panel on right

12 Remove steering wheel    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR46.10-P-0100EW
    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Install new steering wheel.  
13 Remove steering column tube module control unit (N80)

    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Install new steering column tube module control unit (N80).  
14 Remove center console

15 Remove accelerator pedal

16 Loosen driver seat (6) and tilt to rear in order to remove left front floor covering (7)

    IMPORTANT Do not remove the driver seat (6) from the vehicle.  
17 Remove left front floor covering (7)    
18 Detach rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) and place to one side with electrical lines still connected

INSTALLING Install     
19 Retrofit wiring harness of the multifunction camera (A40/11)   AN54.30-P-0100-01EW
20 Install multifunction camera (A40/11)

21 Install remaining parts IMPORTANT Operation steps 18 to 1.  
22 Enter special equipment in online vehicle data card via vehicle documentation system (VeDoc) IMPORTANTAdd: 
  • CODE 476 (Automatic lane recognition)
 
23 Document retrofitted equipment in VeDoc IMPORTANT Attach note "Lane recognition retrofitted as per AN54.71-P-0001EW " to the KG54 under field organization texts.  
24 Connect Star Diagnosis and select vehicle via the vehicle identification number (VIN)

25 Perform variant coding with XENTRY using the software calibration number (SCN)    
26 Disconnect Star Diagnosis
