Remove/install spring control arm mount at rear axle carrier - AR35.20-P-0104EW

DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

1 Operate parking brake

with CODE 488 (Steel/air suspension)

REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04A
    INSTALLATION NOTES
The air spring must be filled as per the specifications.
The air spring may otherwise be damaged and fail later.
 
3.1 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key from electronic ignition lock control unit MODEL 212, 218
without CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO)
 
3.2 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key or KEYLESS-GO start/stop button from electronic ignition lock control unit MODEL 212, 218
with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO)
 
4 Secure vehicle on vehicle lift   AR00.60-P-0100EWS
5 Remove left or right rear wheel (2)    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP40.10-P-4050EW
6 Remove left and right rear diagonal strut MODEL 212.2, 218.9  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, rear diagonal strut bracket mount to body *BA61.10-P-1006-01H 
7 Remove exhaust system as from connecting point MODEL 212, 218  
MODEL 212 with ENGINE 274 AR49.10-P-7100MR
MODEL 212, 218 with ENGINE 157, 276, 278 AR49.10-P-7100EL
MODEL 212 with ENGINE 156, 272, 273 AR49.10-P-7100EW

8.1 Remove left or right steel spring (5) MODEL 212.0/1, 218
without CODE 488 (Steel/air suspension)

8.2 Unclip left or right air spring from spring control arm (6) MODEL 212.0/1, 218

9 Unscrew nut for spring control arm (6) on rear axle carrier, lift up spring control arm (6) until the rear axle shaft (37) is almost horizontally positioned, and pull out the bolt TORQUE SPECIFICATION Self-locking nut, spring control arm to rear axle carrier *BA35.20-P-1001-01D 
10 Fold spring control arm (6) downwards    
11 Remove elastomer bearing (6l)   AR35.20-P-0114-01CW

12 Install in the reverse order
