Remove/install camshafts - AR05.20-P-6992EL

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove respective chain tensioner ENGINE 157, 278 in MODEL 212, 218 AR05.10-P-7800ELB
    ENGINE 276 in MODEL 212, 218 AR05.10-P-7800EL
2 Remove cylinder head cover Engine 157, 278 - left cylinder head cover AR01.20-P-5013ELB
    Engine 157, 278 - right cylinder head cover AR01.20-P-5012ELB
    Engine 276.8 - left cylinder head cover AR01.20-P-5013ELS
    Engine 276.8 - right cylinder head cover AR01.20-P-5012ELS
    Engine 276.9 - left cylinder head cover AR01.20-P-5013EEL
    Engine 276.9 - right cylinder head cover AR01.20-P-5012EEL
3 Remove auxiliary bearing cap (3) and mount hold-down tool TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, auxiliary bearing cap to cylinder head *BA05.20-P-1010-02A 
    SPECIAL TOOL Tie-down set Fig 2
4 Rotate engine at crankshaft center bolt in direction of engine rotation to top dead center (TDC) on cylinder 1 (ignition TDC)    
5 Remove the hold-down tool SPECIAL TOOL Tie-down set Fig 2
6.1 Remove intake and exhaust camshaft (1A, 1E) on right cylinder head (01) When removing the camshafts on RH cylinder head
IMPORTANT The exhaust camshaft (1A) on the right cylinder head (01) must be removed first.
 
    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Markings on the camshafts (1A, 1E) must be aligned with the cylinder head flat surface. Oil compensating elements and camshaft bearing points.  
6.2 Take out intake and exhaust camshaft (2A, 2E) at right cylinder head (01) When removing the camshafts on LH cylinder head
IMPORTANT The intake camshaft (2E) must first be removed on the left cylinder head (01).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Markings on the camshafts (2A, 2E) must be aligned with the cylinder head flat surface. Oil compensating elements and camshaft bearing points.
 
7 Remove camshaft positioner When replacing the camshaft

8 Mark pulse wheel for camshaft In the case of color coding missing on the pulse wheels AR05.20-P-6292-04MM

9 Check basic position of the camshafts (1A, 1E, 2A, 2E) ENGINE 157, 278 in MODEL 212, 218

10 Install in the reverse order
