Remove/install centrifuge - AR01.20-P-2100ELS

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A

1 Open engine hood and raise to vertical position MODEL 207, 212, 218

5 Remove upper engine cover

7 Remove right soundproofing over the rail    
8 Remove crash plate with soundproofing MODEL 212, 218 AR07.02-P-1020EL

9 Detach soundproofing from high-pressure pump and remove    
10 Reduce fuel pressure through service valve   AR07.03-P-1460-01VA
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Cap on service connection *BA07.03-P-1007-01D

11 Remove fuel pressure in high-pressure system   AR07.03-P-1460-02MM
12 Detach high-pressure line and low-pressure line on rail and high-pressure pump NOTES
Thoroughly clean area around the fuel high pressure circuit so that no dirt can find its way into the injection system.
Failure can occur otherwise.
NOTES
Do not kink or bend high-pressure line and low-pressure line.
Otherwise leaks and damage may occur.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT The sealing cone for the high-pressure line and low-pressure line must  be checked before assembly. The work instructions absolutely must be observed for assembly work.		  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Union nut, fuel line to fuel distributor *BA07.03-P-1001-01D 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Union nut, fuel line to high-pressure pump *BA07.03-P-1002-01D 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, fuel line service connection to cylinder head cover *BA07.03-P-1003-01D 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, fuel line clamps *BA07.03-P-1005-01D 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Union nut, fuel line to service connection *BA07.03-P-1008-01D 
    Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
    Checking of fuel high-pressure circuit must be carried out after assembly:
↓
Mount high-pressure lines.		 AR07.03-P-1010-02MMA
    Check high-pressure lines AR07.03-P-1010-03MM
    Check fuel high pressure circuit. AR07.03-P-1010-04MM
13 Remove screw/bolts (2) from centrifuge cover (3a) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, centrifuge cover to cylinder head/cylinder head cover *BA01.20-P-1001-01L 
14 Remove centrifuge cover (3a) from cylinder head cover and cylinder head and place to one side INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace seal.  
15 Remove screw/bolt for centrifuge (3) and remove centrifuge (3) from camshaft TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, centrifuge to camshaft sprocket *BA01.20-P-1002-01L 
  Perform operation steps 15 to 24 to remove the centrifuge cover or the oil separator     
16 Remove left-hand air filter housing   AR09.10-P-1150ELS
17 Remove left soundproofing over the rail    
18 Remove ME-SFI [ME] control unit MODEL 207, 212, 218  
    MODEL 207, 212 AR07.08-P-7008ELS
19 Detach engine wiring harness from cylinder head covers   AR01.00-P-2410-02ELS
20 Remove charge air manifold   AR09.41-P-1310ELS
21 Detach intermediate flange from cylinder heads and remove   AR09.41-P-1310ELS
22 Detach bracket for electrical lines for knock sensors    
23 Pry off wide open throttle vent line (6) and partial load vent line (7) from oil separator (5) NOTES
Do not bend wide open throttle vent line (6) or partial load vent line (7) too wide.
The plastic can break or cracks can be formed.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace sealing rings on the wide open throttle vent line (6) and partial load vent line (7).
IMPORTANT To do this place the tool on the respective attachment points (arrows) and push out wide open throttle vent line (6) and partial load vent line (7) upwards out of the oil separator (5).
IMPORTANT Check wide open throttle vent line (6) and partial load vent line (7) for damage and replace if necessary.		  
24 Remove screw/bolts (4) for oil separator (5) from the cylinder crankcase TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, oil separator to crankcase *BA01.20-P-1006-01L 
25 Remove centrifuge cover (3a) together with the oil separator (5) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Mount between cylinder head and oil lines (1) chafe protection (8).
IMPORTANT The centrifuge cover (3a) and oil separator (5) form a unit and therefore may only be replaced together.		  
26 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Check     
27 Check engine oil level; correct if necessary    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP18.00-P-0101CWZ
28 Check cooling system for leaktightness MODEL 207 AR20.00-P-1010ELA
    MODEL 212, 218 AR20.00-P-1010EL
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
29 Carry out an engine test run, and check engine and fuel system for leaktightness
