51 44 011 Removing and installing/replacing headlining (version with tilt sunroof)

Necessary preliminary work: 

• Remove BOTH SUN VISORS AND COUNTER SUPPORTS 
• Remove ROOF SWITCH CLUSTER
• Remove BOTH MIRROR LIGHTS
• Remove BOTH MICROPHONES
• Remove BOTH TRIM PANELS FOR ROOF PILLAR AT FRONT  (A-pillar)
• Remove BOTH TRIM PANELS FOR DOOR POST (TOP)  (B-pillar)
• Remove BOTH TRIM PANELS FOR REAR ROOF PILLAR  (C-pillars)

Additional when removing entire headlining: 

• Remove WINDSCREEN 

Unclip cover (1) from headlining from bottom to top.

Release screw (2) underneath and remove support (3).

Installation note: 

Latch mechanisms on cover (1) must not be damaged.

Press on coat hook (1).

Release screw (2) and remove coat hook (3).

Release cover (1) from clips (2).

Release cover (1) from latch mechanisms (3) towards rear window and remove.

Installation note: 

Following parts of cover must not be damaged or missing.

Detach rear headlining (1) from clips (2).

Installation note: 

If necessary, replace defective clips (1).

Release screw (1) in area of C-pillar left/right.

Tightening torque 51 44 2AZ .

Release nuts (1) and screws (2) at support of front headlining.

Tightening torque 51 44 3AZ .

• Move both front seat backrests as far back as possible.
• Pull off edge protection from front doors in area of headlining.

Detach headlining (2) downwards out of latch mechanisms (1) and remove through windscreen opening.

Installation note: 

Make sure all electrical lines are correctly positioned.

Guides (1) at headlining (2) must not be damaged.

Installation note: 

All insertion fasteners (1) on sliding sunroof frame (2) must be replaced to guarantee that headlining is held securely.
