REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove rear bumper.    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR88.20-S-2200E
2 Remove respective mirror glass (2) from outside mirror on driver's side and front passenger side.    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT The removed mirror glass (2) is no longer used.
Dispose of removed component parts that are no longer required properly. Observe the applicable legal requirements and specifications of the relevant country.		 AR88.70-S-9020E
INSTALLING Install     
3 Retrofit radar sensors (1) for Blind Spot Assist. IMPORTANT Use radar sensors (1) for Blind Spot Assist from parts kit. AN54.71-S-1001-02E 
4 Install rear bumper.    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR88.20-S-2200E
5 Retrofit corresponding mirror glass (2) with Blind Spot Assist warning lamp (3) in outside mirror on driver's side and front passenger side. IMPORTANT Use mirror glass (2) with Blind Spot Assist warning lamp (3) for Blind Spot Assist from parts kit. AN54.71-S-1001-06E 
6 Enter special equipment into Vehicle Documentation (VeDoc). IMPORTANT Designation of affected special equipment: Code JA7 (Blind Spot Assist).
Remove existing code J0V (Pre-installation for Blind Spot Assist)
IMPORTANT Attach "Blind Spot Assist retrofitted as per AN54.71-S-1001E" note under field organization texts to DG 54.		  
  Update SCN coding     
7 Perform SCN coding on left front door control unit (N69/3).    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT Under the menu item "Control unit adaptations", follow the instructions for "SCN coding"
IMPORTANT Do not yet remove vehicle diagnosis system.		 AR54.21-S-0015E 
8 Perform SCN coding on right front door control unit (N69/4).    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR54.21-S-0015E 
    IMPORTANT Under the menu item "Control unit adaptations", follow the instructions for "SCN coding"
IMPORTANT Do not yet remove vehicle diagnosis system.		  
9 Perform SCN coding on instrument cluster (IC) control unit (A1/1).    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT Under the menu item "Control unit adaptations", follow the instructions for "SCN coding"
IMPORTANT Do not yet remove vehicle diagnosis system.		 AR54.21-S-0015E 
10 Perform SCN coding on electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit (N73).    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT Under the menu item "Control unit adaptations", follow the instructions for "SCN coding"
IMPORTANT Do not yet remove vehicle diagnosis system.		 AR54.21-S-0015E 
11 Perform SCN coding on central gateway (N93/4). Model 447.8  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT Under the menu item "Control unit adaptations", follow the instructions for "SCN coding"
IMPORTANT Do not yet remove vehicle diagnosis system.		 AR54.21-S-0015E 
12 Perform SCN coding at PARKTRONIC control unit (PTS) (N62). Model 447.8 with code EZ6 (Parking Package with 360° camera) Model 447 with code EZ5 (Active Parking Assist with reversing camera) Model 447 with code EZ7 (Active Parking Assist)  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT Under the menu item "Control unit adaptations", follow the instructions for "SCN coding"
IMPORTANT Do not yet remove vehicle diagnosis system.		 AR54.21-S-0015E 
  Perform initial startup     
13 Commission left radar sensor (1) with diagnostic system.    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   IMPORTANT Under the menu item "Control unit adaptations", follow the instructions for "Initial startup".
It is absolutely essential to precisely follow the operation steps as described in the vehicle diagnosis system
When commissioning the left radar sensor (1), the right radar sensor (1) is also automatically put into operation. 		 AR54.21-S-0014E 
    IMPORTANT Do not yet remove vehicle diagnosis system.  
INSPECT Check     
14 Perform function test of Blind Spot Assist. IMPORTANT Switch on the Blind Spot Assist function in the instrument cluster.

IMPORTANT To do so, position an obstacle in the rear left monitoring range (5) and rear right monitoring range (6) of the radar sensors (1) and check whether the Blind Spot Assist warning lamp (3) illuminates in the respective mirror glass (2)
IMPORTANT If the Blind Spot Assist is switched on, the instrument cluster display shows gray radar waves extending backward next to the vehicle in the assistance graphic. When you drive faster than 12 km/h with Blind Spot Assist switched on, the radar waves in the assistance graphic are displayed green. Blind Spot Assist is ready for operation
If the ignition is switched on whilst Blind Spot Assist is switched on, the warning lamps in the outside mirrors switch on for approx.
1.5 seconds.		  
15 Remove vehicle diagnosis system.    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-S-2000-04E
16 Perform a function check of all electrical functions of mirror glass (2). IMPORTANT The extent of electrical functions varies depending on the vehicle equipment.  
  Inform     
17 Print out certificate for customer.    
REFER TO FORMS Information on modified mirror glass, certificate Model 447 with code ZU7 (Canada national version) or with code ZU8 (USA national version) OF88.70-S-9020-01A
