Remove/Install Front Fixed Element Of Panoramic Sliding Sunroof - AR77.21-P-0803ME

WARNING Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
Notice  Notes on removal/installation of bonded elements of panoramic roof   AH77.21-P-0001-01A

REMOVING Remove     
1 Completely open panoramic sliding sunroof.    
2 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).    
3 Remove drip rails.   AR88.80-P-4000ME
4 Remove left and right roof railing.   AR77.40-P-5000ME 
5 Remove left and right drip rail.    
6 Remove rear sealing lip (2).    
7 Fix seal (1) on upper windshield using suitable tape. IMPORTANT In order to prevent damage.
Adhesive fabric tape
*BR00.45-Z-1062-02A 
8 Mask off wind deflector with inner front seal towards inside. IMPORTANT In order to prevent damage.
Adhesive fabric tape

9 Mask off adjacent paint surfaces using suitable tape. IMPORTANT To prevent damage during cutting.

WARNING Risk of injury  due to snapping or warming up of cutting wire and due to splinters when cutting out glued panoramic roofs Wear cut-proof gloves and safety glasses. AS77.21-Z-0002-01A 
WARNING Risk of injury  from cutting wire tearing or becoming hot and from splinters of glass when cutting out bonded windows Wear protective gloves and safety glasses. AS67.00-Z-0004-01A
10 Cut out adhesive bead (3) of front fixed element (4) and remove.   AR77.21-P-0803-01ME 
    IMPORTANT Helper required.
IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Oscillating saw with round sawing blade
SPECIAL TOOL Set of shields

INSTALLING Install

11 Prepare front fixed element (4) of panoramic sliding sunroof for installation. NOTESOnly use the repair kit approved by the manufacturer from the replacement part system. 
Otherwise, adhesion problems will occur. 
AR77.21-P-0803-02ME 
    IMPORTANT Helper required.
Adhesive fabric tape
*BR00.45-Z-1062-02A 
    Distance between top edge of window and front edge of roof *BE67.10-P-1001-02KOA 
    SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Fig 1
12 Prepare body flange for front fixed element (4) of panoramic sliding sunroof for installation. NOTESOnly use the repair kit approved by the manufacturer from the replacement part system. 
Otherwise, adhesion problems will occur. 
AR77.21-P-0803-03ME 
WARNING Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling vapors or swallowing adhesive. Risk of injury  caused by adhesive coming into contact with skin and eyes Wear respiratory protection, protective gloves and safety glasses. Pour adhesive into suitable and appropriately marked containers only. AS00.00-Z-0016-01A
13 Apply adhesive material for front fixed element (4) of panoramic sliding sunroof.   WS97.00-P-0001B
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 00 72 00 Sealing and corrosion protection gun   AR77.21-P-0803-04ME 
    NOTES Apply adhesive material as quickly as possible and position front fixed element (4) on body flange and fix it in place.
Otherwise, the strength of the adhesively bonded connection is impaired and the required adhesion of the adhesive material is not guaranteed.
NOTESOnly use the repair kit approved by the manufacturer from the replacement part system. 
Otherwise, adhesion problems will occur. 
SPECIAL TOOL Adapter

14 Install front fixed element (4) of panoramic sliding sunroof.   AR77.21-P-0803-05ME 
    NOTES Do not move vehicle for at least 3 h after gluing in front fixed element (4).
The strength of the adhesively bonded connection is otherwise impaired and the required adhesion of the adhesive material is not ensured.
IMPORTANT Helper required.
 
15 Install rear sealing lip (2).    
16 Install left and right drip rail.    
17 Install left and right roof railing.   AR77.40-P-5000ME 
18 Install drip rails.   AR88.80-P-4000ME
19 Remove tape residues.    
  Finishing activity     
20 Normalize panoramic sliding sunroof using vehicle diagnosis system and perform teach-in run for automatic reversing function.
