	Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

	Remove
1	Remove engine air intake ducts upstream of cold air intake air filters.
2	Shift the transmission (1) into neutral position.
3	Release parking brake.
4	Disconnect ground line on battery.		AR54.10-P-0003XG
5	Secure vehicle on vehicle lift.		AR00.60-P-1006A
6	Remove lower engine compartment paneling.		AR61.20-P-1105XG
7	Remove oil lines from transmission (1) and oil pan.		AR27.55-P-0600XGA
8	Release catalytic converters from rear muffler and frame.	Left catalytic converter	AR49.20-P-0101XGA
		Right catalytic converter	AR49.20-P-0102XGA
9	Disconnect ground line (2) from transmission (1).
10	Release, disconnect and expose electrical connector of transmission (1).
11	Release and disconnect electrical connector (6) then remove from transfer case (7).		AR28.19-P-1009XGA
12	Release and disconnect electrical connector (5) then remove from transfer case (7).		AR28.19-P-1003XGA
13	Remove propeller shaft.		AR41.10-P-0050XGA
14	Remove propeller shaft from front axle differential.		AR41.10-P-0070XGA
15	Remove starter from transmission (1), place to one side with connected lines and fasten.		AR15.30-P-7100XGA
		Secure starter against falling down. Damage will otherwise occur.
16	Remove mounting console for low-temperature circuit switchover valve.		AR09.41-P-1220-01XGA
17	Remove cover (3).
18	Remove torque converter (10) from drive plate (13).		AR27.20-P-0001-01EWM
		Do not use an impact wrench or compressed air tool to remove the bolts. Otherwise, the threaded unions (14) in the drive plate (13) may be damaged.

19	Remove cross strut (4).
20	Remove rear engine carrier.		AR22.10-P-4360XGA
21	Lower transmission (1) far enough until all bolts (19) around the circumference of the transmission (1) are accessible.
22	Support front of engine between front crossmember and engine using wooden wedge.	To ensure the engine is in the correct installation position for the transmission (1).
23	Remove vent lines (8, 9) from transfer case (7) and transmission (1).
24	Remove screws (19).	Set of flexible head wrenches	Fig 2
25	Remove transmission (1) with torque converter (10).	Secure the torque converter (10) to prevent it from dropping down. Damage will otherwise occur.
26	Remove torque converter (10).	If necessary.

28	Check threaded unions (14) in drive plate (13).	If the threaded unions (14) are damaged or if they have worked their way loose, ↓ replace drive plate (13).

	Install
29	Insert torque converter (10).	After removing the torque converter (10).

30	Install transmission (1) with torque converter (10).	While doing so, align the bores of the torque converter (10) with the threaded unions (14) in the drive plate (13).
31	Tighten screws (19).	Screw/bolt, transmission to engine	*BA27.10-P-1001-04H

32	Mount vent lines (8, 9) onto transfer case (7) and transmission.
33	Remove wooden wedge at front between front crossmember and engine.
34	Install rear engine carrier.		AR22.10-P-4360XGA
35	Install cross strut (4).	Screw, crash bracket to underbody	*BA61.10-P-1001-01M
36	Mount torque converter (10) onto drive plate (13).		AR27.20-P-0001-01EWM
		Do not use an impact wrench/driver or compressed air tool to screw in the bolts. Otherwise, the threaded unions (14) in the drive plate (13) may be damaged.

37	Install cover (3).
38	Attach low-temperature circuit switchover valve mounting support.		AR09.41-P-1220-01XGA

42	Assemble electrical connector (5), lock it and then mount onto transfer case (7).		AR28.19-P-1003XGA

44	Assemble electrical connector of transmission (1), then lock and fix it into place.

46	Fasten catalytic converters onto rear muffler and frame.	Left catalytic converter	AR49.20-P-0101XGA
