Remove/Install Panoramic Sliding Roof Frame - AR77.21-P-0801MFA

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove front fixed element (1) of panoramic sliding sunroof.   AR77.21-P-0803MFA 
2 Remove sliding sunroof panel (2).   AR77.20-P-2854MFA 
3 Remove headliner. Model 118.3, 177.1/9 with code 413

    Model 118.6 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof) AR68.30-P-4300MFD
4 Unscrew nuts (3) and remove brackets of front roof railing (4).    
5 Remove screws (5) and remove mounting supports (6) of panoramic sliding sunroof frame (8).    
6 Release and disconnect electrical connector (7).    
7 Remove outer rear seal.   AR77.21-P-0560MFA 
8 Mask off adjacent paint surfaces with tape. Adhesive fabric tape *BR00.45-Z-1062-02A 
WARNING Risk of injury  due to snapping or warming up of cutting wire and due to splinters when cutting out glued panoramic roofs Wear cut-proof gloves and safety glasses. AS77.21-Z-0002-01A 
9 Remove panoramic sliding sunroof frame (8). IMPORTANT Two helpers required. AR77.21-P-0801-01MFA 
    SPECIAL TOOL Set of shields Fig 1
10 Remove tape and prepare body flange of panoramic sliding sunroof frame (8).   AR77.21-P-0801-03MFA 
INSTALLING Install     
11 Prepare panoramic sliding sunroof frame (8) for installation.   AR77.21-P-0801-02MFA 
Notice  General notes about painting the body flange in the glazing area   AH98.00-P-9408-06A
    HAND HELD TESTER Distance between top edge of window and front edge of roof/sliding roof aperture panel *BE67.10-P-1001-02C 
    Adhesive fabric tape *BR00.45-Z-1062-02A 
    SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Fig 3
WARNING Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling vapors or swallowing adhesive. Risk of injury  caused by adhesive coming into contact with skin and eyes Wear respiratory protection, protective gloves and safety glasses. Pour adhesive into suitable and appropriately marked containers only. AS00.00-Z-0016-01A
12 Apply adhesive material for panoramic sliding sunroof frame (8).

REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 02 72 00 Sealing and corrosion protection gun   WS97.00-P-0003B

13 Install panoramic sliding sunroof frame (8).   AR77.21-P-0801-05MFA 
14 Remove weights for weighting down panoramic sliding sunroof frame (8). NOTES
Do not remove weights before reference adhesive bead is completely cured.
Otherwise the strength of the adhesive connection can be impaired and proper adhesion of the adhesive material is not ensured.
 
15 Install outer rear seal. If panoramic sliding sunroof frame (8) is reused. AR77.21-P-0560MFA 
16 Connect electrical connector (7).    
17 Install mounting supports (6) of panoramic sliding sunroof frame (8). IMPORTANT First tighten screws (5) at body.  
18 Install brackets of front roof railing (4). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Replace seal.  
19 Install headliner. Model 118.3, 177.1/9 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof) AR68.30-P-4300MFV
    Model 177.0 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof) AR68.30-P-4300MFA
    Model 118.6 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof) AR68.30-P-4300MFD
20 Install sliding roof panel (2). If panoramic sliding sunroof frame (8) is reused. AR77.20-P-2854MFA 
21 Install front fixed element (1) of panoramic sliding sunroof. If panoramic sliding sunroof frame (8) is reused. AR77.21-P-0803MFA 
INSPECT Check     
22 Check strength of adhesively bonded connection by means of the produced reference adhesive bead. NOTES
The vehicle may not be moved for at least 10 h after the gluing in of the panoramic sliding sunroof frame (8).
Otherwise the strength of the adhesive connection can be impaired and proper adhesion of the adhesive material is not ensured.
 
23 Normalize panoramic sliding sunroof using vehicle diagnosis system and perform teach-in run for automatic reversing function.

CLEAN Clean     
24 Clean working area and vehicle.
