Risk of fire  /risk of explosion due to short circuit and escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of (burn) injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte/mist, short circuit and arcing. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing battery electrolyte or absorption of lead through the skin or body orifices. Risk of death  due to voltage U >= 30 V AC and U >= 60 V DC. No fires, sparks, open flames, or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing, and glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install
1 Disconnect charging cable connector of high-voltage on-board electrical system and wait 30 s until power-down is complete. If high-voltage on-board electrical system is charged via a charging cable connector.
2 Disconnect charger from on-board electrical system battery. When an external charger is connected.
3 Move driver seat to rearmost position.
4 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m). IMPORTANT Wait for a run-on time of approx. 2 minutes after the ignition is switched off and before disconnecting the ground line (1).
5 Remove trim (2).
6.1 Release electrical connector (3) (arrow A) and disconnect in direction of arrow (arrow B) with ground line (1). Model 907
with code E30 (Battery master switch)
IMPORTANTRemoval  : Position the ground line (1) so that there is no inadvertent contact with vehicle ground.

6.2 Remove nut (4) and remove ground line (1). Model 907
except code E30 (Battery master switch)
IMPORTANTRemoval  : Position the ground line (1) so that there is no inadvertent contact with vehicle ground.

REFER TO DESCRIPTION & OPERATION
Check for absence of voltage on 12 V onboard electrical system.
Service Information: Determine absence of voltage of 12 V on-board electrical system after removing the ground or positive line of the on-board electrical system battery
with code ME0 (Electric motor 85 kW)
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 07 19 00 Measuring instrument IMPORTANT The engine hood must be closed. Observe the Service Information.
8 Expose positive line on on-board electrical system battery. Model 907 AR54.10-D-0009TSR
9 Check on-board electrical system, using a diode test lamp, for voltage between positive line of on-board electrical system battery and disconnected ground line (1). IMPORTANT If the diode test lamp lights up, the onboard electrical system is still active because of a defect in the electrical system.
If the diode test lamp lights up,

Disconnect ground line of auxiliary battery for park pawl emergency shift mode or condenser for park pawl emergency shift mode, and check again after completing work on the onboard electrical system.
