Remove/install spring control arm, replace rubber bushing - AR35.20-P-0114NKB

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Secure vehicle on vehicle lift   AR00.60-P-0100CW
2 Remove rear muffler (15) Model 117, 156, 176, 242, 246 with engine 270 AR49.10-P-4952MT
Model 117, 156, 176 with engine 133 AR49.10-P-7100MTA
Model 176, 246 with engine 607 AR49.10-P-7100ORA
Model 117, 156, 176, 246 with engine 651 AR49.10-P-7100OLB
3 Remove covering over rear axle Model 242 with engine 780  
AR61.30-P-1001NKB
4 Remove cover (16) Model 117, 156, 176, 246 except code M005 (4MATIC)
Model 242 with engine 270 except code M005 (4MATIC)
 
5 Unclip and remove cover (17) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Make sure that the cover (17) is seated correctly.  
6 Remove left or right rear axle spring   AR32.20-P-0230NKB
7 Unscrew nuts (4) on spring control arm (3) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, shock absorber to spring control arm *BA32.25-P-1003-03J 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Self-locking nut, spring control arm to rear axle carrier *BA35.20-P-1001-01D 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Self-locking nut, spring control arm to wheel carrier *BA35.20-P-1002-01D 
8 Raise spring control arm (3) on outboard side using major assembly mount and mounting plate    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 11 62 00 Major assembly mount WS01.00-P-0092B
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 10 62 00 Support plate WS26.00-P-3309B
IMPORTANT Lift the spring control arm (3) just far enough so that the bolt (5) can be pulled halfway out of the spring control arm (3) free of tension.
9 Lower major assembly mount and mounting plate completely    
10 Pull bolt (5) completely out of spring control arm (3)    
11 Remove bolt (6) from spring control arm (3)    
12 Remove bolt (7) from spring control arm (3)    
13 Remove spring control arm (3)    
14 Remove spring seat of spring control arm (3) When replacing the spring control arm (3).  
INSPECT Check     
15 Check elastomer bearing in rear axle carrier for damage If damage is present ↓
Replace elastomer bearing.

16 Check elastomer bearing in steering knuckle for damage Model 117, 156, 176 with engine 270, 607, 651
Model 242, 246
If damage is present ↓
Replace all elastomer bearings.

17 Check elastomer bearing in steering knuckle for damage Model 117, 156, 176 with engine 133
If damage is present ↓
Replace stub axle.

18 Install in the reverse order    
19 Perform wheel alignment check   AR40.20-P-0200NKB
CHECK VALUES FOR REAR AXLE RUBBER BUSHINGS
