DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts. Deburr repair panels. AS00.00-Z-0017-01A
DANGER Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove bottom engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105NKB
INSTALLATION IMPORTANTInstallation:  Only install lower engine compartment paneling after the performing an engine test run and leak test.  
2 Detach side underfloor paneling and place to one side    
3 Mark installation position of the front reinforcement brace (1) and the propeller shaft center support bearing in color on frame floor assembly ENGINE 133 in MODEL 117, 156, 176 with CODE M005 (4MATIC)  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, propeller shaft center support bearing to frame floor assembly *BA41.40-P-1001-01G 
4 Remove reinforcement braces (1) IMPORTANT Fasten the propeller shaft center support bearing after removal of the front reinforcement brace (1) with screw/bolts on frame floor assembly.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, propeller shaft center support bearing to frame floor assembly *BA41.40-P-1001-01G 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, front reinforcement brace to frame floor assembly *BA61.10-P-1002-01H 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, rear reinforcement brace to frame floor assembly *BA61.10-P-1003-01H 
5 Remove clamps (2) on both sides INSTALLATION IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace clamps (2).  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Clamp, exhaust pipe to rear muffler *BA49.10-P-1023-01AL 
6 Remove exhaust tailpipe (3)    
7 Disconnect electrical connection of the electrical exhaust flap ENGINE 133 in MODEL 176  
8 Remove clamp (4) INSTALLATION IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace clamp (4).  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Clamp, rear exhaust system to front exhaust system *BA49.10-P-1021-01AL 
9 Remove clamp on CAT below and remove intermediate pipe to the front INSTALLATION IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace clamp if necessary.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Clamp, front exhaust system to catalytic converter *BA49.10-P-1020-01AL 
10 Push exhaust system out of the elastomer bearing (5) and remove exhaust system downwards INSTALLATION IMPORTANTInstallation:  Apply lubricating paste to elastomer bearings (5).
IMPORTANT Helper required.		  
Antifriction paste, rubber parts 2.5 kg, DBL 6867.00 *BR00.45-Z-1002-06A 
CLEAN Clean     
11 Remove combustion/corrosion residues at connecting points    
12 Check from elastomer bearings (5) for damage; replace if necessary.    
13 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Check     
14 Check installation position and unobstructed movement of all components of the exhaust system    
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off on its own when jacked up. Risk of injury  caused by rotating parts when working on running engine or drive train. Ensure that jack stands are in a safe condition. An authorized person must occupy the driver's seat. Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0008-01A
15 Perform an engine test run and check exhaust system for leaktightness
