Remove/Install Tensioning Rail - AR05.10-P-8127MFC

MODIFICATION NOTES

05.06.2023 Remove sliding rail bolt (1). Document reference with new special tool added in operation step 4. AR01.30-P-5800-21MFC

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove cylinder head cover. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Do not install engine cover until after the leak test. AR01.20-P-5014MFC
2 Remove chain tensioner (3).   AR05.10-P-7800MFC 
3 Remove camshaft positioner (4) of the intake camshaft.   AR05.20-P-6992MFC 
4 Remove sliding rail bolt (1). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT The thread of the sliding rail bolt (1) must point outwards. AR01.30-P-5800-21MFC
    SPECIAL TOOL Insertion tool Fig 3

    SPECIAL TOOL Puller Fig 1
5 Remove tensioning rail (2) upward.    
INSPECT Check     
6 Check tensioning rail (2) and slide rails (5, 6) for wear, galling, and damage. If problems exist:

Replace corresponding components.
Replace slide rails (5, 6)

7 Install in the reverse order.    
WARNING Risk of burn injuries,  suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the danger zone. AS49.00-Z-0001-01A
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
8 Carry out an engine test run; check engine for leak tightness while doing so.
