	Remove/install
1	Remove camshaft positioners (1).		AR05.20-P-7204MFC
2	Remove hold-down tools (2n) of exhaust camshaft (2a) and intake camshaft (2e).	Install hold-down tools (2n) again in the same position (mark if necessary). Otherwise, the exhaust camshaft (2a) and intake camshaft (2e) or the cylinder head will be damaged. Bolt for camshaft hold-down tool	*BA05.20-P-1001-02K
3	Remove hold-down tool (01) of exhaust camshaft (2a) and intake camshaft (2e) with holding devices (02a, 02e).	Holding device	Fig 1
4	Remove intake camshaft (2e). General information on checking camshafts and bearing points of camshafts		AH05.20-P-1000-09SZ
	Specified engine oils for Cars, Vans (service) - Overview	The cams on the intake camshaft (2e) must be pointing upright at an angle after inserting intake camshaft (2e) on cylinder 1. There is otherwise risk of breakage of the intake camshaft (2e) and exhaust camshaft (2a). Wet compensating elements and camshaft bearing points with engine oil. Ensure that the intake camshaft (2e) is installed in the full stroke position (picture). The full stroke position can be recognized by the 6.5 mm wide gap (11) between the carrier shaft (10) and the front cam piece (12a). There should be no gap (arrow) between the camshaft piece at the rear (12b) and the high-pressure pump drive cams (13). Adjust the camshaft piece at the front (12a) or the camshaft piece at the rear (12b) by hand if necessary.	BB00.40-P-0223-02A

7	Check intake camshaft (2e), exhaust camshaft (2a) and bearings in cylinder head as well as cylinder head cover for galling.	If there is a problem: ↓ Replace camshafts, cylinder head cover and cylinder head. Replace cylinder head	AR01.30-P-5800MFC

8	Install in the reverse order.
