Disassemble/Assemble Clutch Housing - AR27.40-P-0520MFC

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of transmission oil. Health risk caused by swallowing transmission oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not pour transmission oil into beverage bottles.		 AS00.40-Z-0001-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Drain fluid from transmission.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP27.00-P-2707NK 
2 Remove transmission.   AR27.10-P-0009MFC
3 Fasten transmission onto assembly stand.   AR27.10-P-0600-01NKB
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 27 31 00 Assembly stand for cars   WS01.00-P-0262B

DISASSEMBLING Disassemble     
4 Disassemble transmission and remove coupling housing (27K) from transmission housing.   AR27.10-P-0510MFC
5 Unscrew screws (1) and remove cover (2) from coupling housing (27K).    
6 Remove dowel pins (5) from crankcase (27K). If the coupling housing (27K) is replaced.  
7 Remove radial shaft sealing rings from axle shafts.   AR27.40-P-0211MFC 
8 Remove outer race (52L) and then remove differential spacer ring (52E) from coupling housing (27K) IMPORTANT Replace outer race (52L) after each removal. AR27.40-P-0520-01NKB

9 Remove outer races (62L, 82L) from coupling housing (27K) then remove spacer rings (62E, 82E) IMPORTANT Replace outer races (62L, 82L) after each removal. AR27.40-P-0520-01NKB

10 Remove retaining ring (40 s) from hollow shaft (40). SPECIAL TOOL Pliers Fig 7
11 Using suitable tool, press hollow shaft (40) out of coupling housing (27K). If required.  
12 Remove retaining ring (43) using a suitable tool from the coupling housing (27K). If required.  
13 Press hollow shaft deep-groove ball bearing (44) out of clutch housing (27K). If required.
SPECIAL TOOL Drift		 Fig 10
INSPECT Check     
14 Check all parts for damage and wear, replace if necessary. If an outer race (52L, 62L, 82L) is damaged,
↓
replace outer race (52L, 62L or 82L) and associated rolling-element bearing.
Replace rolling-element bearing of hollow shaft.		 AR27.50-P-0650MFC 
    Replace rolling-element bearing of power output shaft. AR27.50-P-0560MFC 
    Replace differential and associated bearing. AR27.50-P-0771MFC 
ASSEMBLING Assemble     
15 Moisten all parts with transmission oil before installation.    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Automatic transmission fluid (ATF) (specification 236.21)   BB00.40-P-0236-21A
MEASURING Measure     
16 Measure and adjust end play of hollow shaft deep-groove ball bearing (44). If hollow shaft (40) was removed.
IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Digital vernier caliper		 AR27.50-P-0650-03NKB 
    Loctite 7063 (400 ml) cleaning spray *BR00.45-Z-1046-04A 
    Loctite 7200 *BR00.45-Z-1038-04A

17 Press new hollow shaft deep-groove ball bearing (44) into coupling housing (27K). IMPORTANT Replace hollow shaft deep-groove ball bearing (44) after every removal.
SPECIAL TOOL Drift		 Fig 12
18 Press hollow shaft (40) into coupling housing (27K). IMPORTANT Use suitable tool to prop up bearing of hollow shaft (40).
SPECIAL TOOL Sleeve		 Fig 4
19 Install new retaining ring (40s) of hollow shaft (40). NOTES The retaining ring (40s) should be stretched
as little as possible.
Otherwise, the pre-tension required to
position the hollow shaft (40) correctly in the
clutch housing (27K) will be missing during
installation.
IMPORTANT
Replace retaining ring (40 s) after each removal.

20 Adjust gear set of dual-clutch transmission.   AR27.50-P-0900MFC 
21 Place spacer rings (62E, 82E) into coupling housing (27K) and press in outer races (62L, 82L). SPECIAL TOOL Drift Fig 8
22 Place differential spacer ring (52E) into coupling housing (27K) and press in outer race (52L). SPECIAL TOOL Drift Fig 2
23 Install radial shaft sealing ring of axle shafts.   AR27.40-P-0211MFC 
24 Install dowel pins (5) into coupling housing (27K). If the coupling housing (27K) was replaced.  
25 Insert cover (2) into coupling housing (27K).    
26 Screw in screws/bolts (1). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, spur gear cover to clutch housing *BA27.10-P-1005-04F 
27 Assemble transmission and coupling housing (27K) onto transmission housing.   AR27.10-P-0510MFC
INSTALLING Install     
28 Remove transmission from assembly stand.   AR27.10-P-0600-01NKB
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 27 31 00 Assembly stand for cars   WS01.00-P-0262B

29 Install transmission.   AR27.10-P-0009MFC
INSPECT Check     
30 Check transmission oil level, correct, if necessary.   AR27.00-P-0104MFC
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
WARNING Risk of burn injuries  , suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the danger zone. AS49.00-Z-0001-01A
31 Perform engine test run and check transmission for proper operation and leak tightness.    
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION COMPLETE
