	Remove/install
1	Shift transmission (3) into neutral position
2	Release parking brake
3	Secure vehicle on vehicle lift	Only release vehicle after leak test.	AR00.60-P-0100CW
4	Drain coolant from low-temperature circuit	: Install center and rear sections of lower engine compartment paneling only after a leak test.	AR09.41-P-6834MNE
5	Remove the exhaust system		AR49.10-P-7142MNE
6	Remove rear engine mount		AR22.10-P-1160MNE
7	Remove heat shield behind transmission (3)
8	Remove propeller shaft on front axle (5) from output flange of transfer case (1), slide to the rear and prop up		AR41.10-P-0040-01LW
	Drift for releasing the fitting sleeves in the flexible couplings		WF58.50-P-4110-01A
		Flexible coupling to transmission/rear axle differential or propeller shaft	*BA41.10-P-1001-01M

9	Remove bolt and take off holder (4)	Bolt, coolant line to transfer case/bracket at side on automatic transmission	*BA28.10-P-1009-01G
10	Unscrew bolt from holder of coolant lines (6) on transfer case (1)	Bolt, coolant line to transfer case/bracket at side on automatic transmission	*BA28.10-P-1009-01G
11	Remove coolant lines (6) from transfer case (1) and seal openings using suitable plugs	: Replace seals. Record plug	Fig 4
12	Release and disconnect electrical connector from transfer case control unit
13	Release and disconnect electrical connector from transfer case temperature sensor
14	Lower transmission (3) until all bolts (2) around the circumference of the transfer case (1) are accessible
15	Support transfer case (2) 000 588 10 62 00 Support plate		WS26.00-P-3309B

16	Unscrew bolts (2) and remove transfer case (1)	The aid of a second person is required for disconnection and connection at the flange of the front axle propeller shaft (5). Bolt, transfer case to automatic transmission	*BA28.10-P-1001-01G
17	Remove transfer case control unit	When replacing transfer case (1).	AR28.19-P-1003MNE
18	Remove oil cooler (10)	When replacing transfer case (1).	AR28.55-P-1000MNE
19	Remove transfer case temperature sensor	When replacing transfer case (1).	AR28.19-P-1007MNE
20	Check intermediate panel (9) for damage	In the case of complaints. ↓ Replace intermediate panel (9).
21	Install in the reverse order
22	Check and correct transmission oil level		AR28.10-P-0100-06MNE
