Remove/Install Rear Suspension Strut - AR32.25-P-1016RG

MODIFICATION NOTES

14.04.2020 Release and disconnect electrical connectors from suspension strut (1) and detach electrical wiring harness. Operation step 6 and 20.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).    
2.1 Remove trunk separator. Model 190.3

2.2 Remove rear panel trim. Model 190.4
except code 478 (AMG RIDE CONTROL)
 
      AR68.30-P-4750RGR
3 Expose rear left or right suspension strut (1). Model 190.4
except code 478 (AMG RIDE CONTROL)
 
      AR32.25-P-1016-01RG 
4 Release and disconnect left or right electrical connector (10). Model 190
with code 479 (AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension)
except code 478 (AMG RIDE CONTROL)
except code M032 (Black Series version)
 
5 Remove left or right rear wheel and tire assembly.   AR40.10-P-1100RQ
6 Release and disconnect electrical connectors from suspension strut (1) and detach electrical wiring harness from suspension strut (1). Model 190
with code M032 (Black Series version)

7 Detach right torsion bar linkage (3) or left torsion bar linkage (4) from lever arm or stabilizer.   AR32.35-P-3329RG 
8 Remove nut (5). IMPORTANT Because of stresses, remove the screw (9) later.  
9 Detach nut (6) and remove screw (7).    
10 Remove nuts (2).    
11 Remove screw (9).    
12 Loosen and remove suspension strut (1). IMPORTANT Do not disassemble the suspension strut (1). If necessary, replace the suspension struts (1) in pairs.  
INSTALLING Install     
13 Tension spring of suspension strut (1) using tensioning device and clamping plates. SPECIAL TOOL Tensioning device Fig 3

14 Attach suspension strut (1) at vehicle and start screw (9).    
15 Install nuts (2). IMPORTANT Model 190.4

    A helper to hold the rear window is required in order to ensure unobstructed movement.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, suspension strut at rear to body *BA32.25-P-1003-04H 
16 Attach nut (5). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, rear suspension strut to wheel carrier/mounting support *BA32.25-P-1004-04H 
17 Relieve spring of suspension strut (1) using tensioning device and clamping plates. SPECIAL TOOL Tensioning device Fig 3

18 Start screw (7) and attach nut (6). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, lower transverse control arm to wheel carrier *BA35.20-P-1003-07D 
19 Attach right torsion bar linkage (3) or left torsion bar linkage (4) to lever arm or stabilizer.   AR32.35-P-3329RG 
20 Connect electrical connectors to suspension strut (1) and attach electrical wiring harness to suspension strut (1). Model 190 with code M032 (Black Series version)

21 Attach left or right rear wheel and tire assembly.   AR40.10-P-1100RQ
22 Connect electrical connector (10), left or right. Model 190 with code 479 (AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension)

23 Install suspension strut (1), rear left or right. Model 190.4
except code 478 (AMG RIDE CONTROL)
 
      AR32.25-P-1016-01RG 
24.1 Install trunk separator. Model 190.3

      AR68.50-P-3000RG
24.2 Install rear panel trim. Model 190.4
