High-pressure line between power steering pump and rack-and-pinion steering 

	Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

	Remove
1	Open hood, position vertically.		AR88.40-P-1000RG
2	Lift/jack up vehicle		AR00.60-P-1000RG
3	Remove engine cover above the expansion reservoir (6).
4	Suction off oil from expansion reservoir (6).	Hand pump	Fig 1
5	Remove lower engine compartment linings.	Model 190 (except 190.381)	AR61.20-P-1105RG

		Only install engine compartment paneling after leak test.
	Remove/install hydraulic line between cooler for power steering and rack-and-pinion steering
6	Lift engine oil cooler out of lower mounts and carefully tilt downwards.	Slide engine oil cooler far enough to one side until access is gained to the connections.
		Do not open oil lines.
7	Remove screw (2) from power steering cooler and release hydraulic line (1).	Thoroughly clean area around the separating point before opening the hydraulic system. Otherwise, even the smallest particles, introduced into the hydraulic system may lead to component malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system.
		Replace sealing rings.
		Collect escaping oil and seal connections with stop plugs.
		Record plug	Fig 2
8	Remove screws (3, 4) and release hydraulic line (1).
9	Unscrew screw (5) from control head of rack-and-pinion steering and remove hydraulic line (1).	Replace sealing rings.
		Collect escaping oil and seal connections with stop plugs.

10	Install in the reverse order
	Remove/install hydraulic line between cooler for power steering and expansion reservoir
11	Unhook expansion reservoir (6) upwards.	Thoroughly clean area around the separating point before opening the hydraulic system. Otherwise, even the smallest particles, introduced into the hydraulic system may lead to component malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system.
12	Release clamp (7) of hydraulic line (8).	Replace clamp (7).
		Collect escaping oil and seal connections with stop plugs.
		Record plug	Fig 2
13	Remove screw (3) and release hydraulic line (8).
14	Lift engine oil cooler out of lower mounts and carefully tilt downwards.	Do not open oil lines.
		Slide engine oil cooler far enough to one side until access is gained to the connections.
15	Remove screw (2) from power steering cooler and release hydraulic line (8).	Collect escaping oil and seal connections with stop plugs.
		Replace sealing rings.
		Record plug	Fig 2
16	Install in the reverse order
	Remove/install feed line between expansion reservoir and power steering pump
17	Unhook expansion reservoir (6) upwards.	Thoroughly clean area around the separating point before opening the hydraulic system. Otherwise, even the smallest particles, introduced into the hydraulic system may lead to component malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system.
18	Release clamp (10) from expansion reservoir (6) and remove feed line (9).	Collect escaping oil and seal connections with stop plugs.
		Replace clamp (10).
		Record plug	Fig 2
19	Release clamp (11) from power-steering pump and remove feed line (9).	Collect escaping oil and seal connections with stop plugs.
		Replace clamp (11).

20	Install in the reverse order
	Remove/install high-pressure line between power steering pump and rack-and-pinion steering
21	Remove right air filter housing.
22	Unhook right heat exchanger and place to one side.
23	Remove screws (15, 16) from right front axle carrier.	When working on the front axle, be careful not to scratch, put scribe markings on, or notch the surfaces of aluminum parts. Otherwise the service life of the parts will be impaired or reduced.
		Bolt, high-pressure line to holder on front axle carrier	*BA46.30-P-1003-01E
24	Remove screw (17) from left front axle carrier.	When working on the front axle, be careful not to scratch, put scribe markings on, or notch the surfaces of aluminum parts. Otherwise the service life of the parts will be impaired or reduced.
		Bolt, high-pressure line to holder on front axle carrier	*BA46.30-P-1003-01E
25	Remove screw (14) and loosen the holder on high-pressure line (12).	Bolt, high-pressure line to pump bracket	*BA46.30-P-1002-01E
26	Remove screw (13) from power-steering pump and loosen high-pressure line (12).	Thoroughly clean area around the separating point before opening the hydraulic system. Otherwise, even the smallest particles, introduced into the hydraulic system may lead to component malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system.
		Collect escaping oil and seal connections with stop plugs.
		Replace sealing rings.
		Bolt, high-pressure line to power steering pump	*BA46.30-P-1005-01E

27	Remove screw (5) from control head of rack-and-pinion steering and remove hydraulic line (12).	Replace sealing rings.
		Collect escaping oil and seal connections with stop plugs.
		Bolt, high pressure line to steering gear	*BA46.30-P-1004-01E

28	Install in the reverse order
	Check
29	Charge power-steering pump and bleed.		AR46.30-P-0010RG
30	Check function of power steering and for leak tightness.
	Install
