	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A

	Remove/install
1	Lift/jack up vehicle	Raise vehicle until the wheel and tire assemblies are off the ground.	AR00.60-P-1000RG
2	Open engine hood, move to upright position and close		AR88.40-P-1000RG
3	Attach front cover for magnesium radiator cross member

		When working in the engine compartment, the front cover for the magnesium radiator cross member must be fitted into place to protect the magnesium radiator cross member. Otherwise, the surface coating on the radiator cross member made of magnesium may be damaged.
4	Remove upper engine cover (4) over expansion reservoir (2)	Do not tilt upper engine cover (4), lift it up vertically. Otherwise, the retaining lugs may break off.
		The upper engine cover (4) must latch noticeably into the retaining lugs.
5	Unscrew cover from expansion reservoir (1)	Before opening the hydraulic system the area around the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly. Otherwise, even the smallest particles, introduced into the hydraulic system may lead to component malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system.
		The cover for the expansion reservoir (1) must latch into place noticeably when closing.
6	Install in the reverse order
	Filling
7	Fill expansion reservoir (2) with MB steering gear oil	Do not  start the engine! If the engine is started, there is a risk of air entering the steering's hydraulic system, which is then extremely difficult to remove.
		Fill the expansion reservoir (2) to approx. 10 mm below the upper edge of the reservoir with MB steering gear oil.

	Bleeding
8	Turn steering wheel from steering stop to steering stop	Do not  start the engine! If the engine is started, there is a risk of air entering the steering's hydraulic system, which is then extremely difficult to remove.
		Turn steering wheel slowly from steering stop to steering stop until bubbles are no longer visible in the expansion reservoir (2).
		Repeat turning the steering from stop to stop several times (up to 30 times). During this process, MB steering gear oil must be poured into the expansion reservoir (2) by a second person.
9	Start engine without moving the steering	Allow engine to run for Approx.. 1 min. at idle speed.
		During this process, a second person must observe the oil level in the expansion reservoir (2) and add MB steering gear oil if necessary.
10	Turn steering wheel from steering stop to steering stop	When the engine is running turn the steering wheel slowly several times from steering stop to steering stop, meanwhile adding MB steering gear oil in expansion reservoir (2).
		Repeat the procedure until the oil level in the expansion reservoir (2) remains constant and bubbles are no longer visible.
	Check
11	Use dipstick (3) to check oil level in expansion reservoir (2)
		The oil level in the expansion reservoir (2) must be level with the MAX marking (A) and it must not drop below the MIN marking (B).	AP46.00-P-4612A
12	Check steering with engine running for leaktightness and proper operation	In the event of leakage, find and eliminate cause.
