Perform Wheel Alignment Check - AR40.20-P-0200XG

Model 463 

as of model year 2019 

  Preparation     
1 Drive vehicle onto measuring station and secure against rolling away. IMPORTANT The measuring system must be approved by Mercedes-Benz.
SPECIAL TOOL Suspension measuring unit

2 Shift transmission in to position "P".    
3 To measure the suspension mode, set to "Sport/Sport +".    
4 Open window on driver's door. IMPORTANT Preparations for checking steering lock.  
5 Switch off easy entry and exit feature. IMPORTANT Switch off using the buttons on the steering wheel in the "Comfort" menu of the multifunction display, see Owner's Manual.  
6 Switch off ignition.    
7 Fulfill preconditions and perform tests for wheel alignment measurement. IMPORTANT This document contains the data sheet and a corresponding example for filling out the data sheet. AR40.20-P-0260SX 
8 Attach Mercedes-Benz quick-clamp holders.   AR40.20-P-0230SX 
9 Attach measuring heads. IMPORTANT For information on how to attach the measuring heads, see the corresponding operating instructions from the manufacturer.  
10 Release turn and slip plates. IMPORTANT Rock vehicle to settle suspension at front and rear, then bring vehicle into a ready-to-drive condition.  
11 Insert brake pedal jack with adapter for brake pedal jack between the brake pedal and the driver's seat. NOTES Protect the contact surfaces of the brake pedal jack with adapter for the brake pedal jack on the brake pedal and driver's seat. Otherwise, the brake pedal and the driver's seat will be damaged.
IMPORTANT Do not load vehicle any more during course of work procedure.

MEASURING Measure     
12 Perform initial measurement. MEASURING For carrying out the initial measurement, see corresponding dimensional check system operating instructions.  
13 Fix steering wheel in center position using holding device. SPECIAL TOOL Retainer device Fig 5
14 Check vehicle level at front and rear axle using electronic inclinometer   AR40.20-P-0302XG 
    IMPORTANT Depending on the measurement result, adjust vehicle level at front and rear axle.

15 Compare determined values with the specified values. IMPORTANT The camber and caster on the rear axle are not adjustable. AR40.20-P-0203XG 
MEASURING Adjust     
16 Adjust the drive line angle. According to results of initial measurement. AR40.20-P-0200-14XG 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw, lower trailing arm to rear axle *BA35.15-P-1009-02A 
17 Adjust camber and caster on front axle. According to results of initial measurement. AR40.20-P-0263XG 
18 Adjust toe on front axle. According to results of initial measurement. AR40.20-P-0264XG 
MEASURING Measure     
19 Check toe-out angle. According to results of initial measurement. AR40.20-P-0325XG 
20 Recheck vehicle level at front and rear axle using electronic inclinometer.   AR40.20-P-0302XG 
    IMPORTANT Depending on the measurement result, adjust vehicle level at front and rear axle.

21 Perform output measurement. IMPORTANT If the vehicle specified values are not reached, repeat operation steps 16 to 18.  
  Remove     
22 Remove measuring heads.    
23 Detach Mercedes-Benz quick-clamp holders.   AR40.20-P-0230SX 
24 Remove brake pedal jack with adapter for brake pedal jack.    
25 Remove holding device for steering wheel center position.    
26 Lock turn and slip plates.    
27 Switch on easy entry and exit feature. IMPORTANT Switch on using the buttons on the steering wheel in the "Comfort" menu of the multifunction display, see Owner's Manual.  
28 Drive vehicle off the measuring system.    
INSPECT Check

REFER TO MAINTENANCE
Check headlamp adjustment, adjust if necessary.   AP82.10-P-8260GA
