Self-Diagnostic System

NOTE: Before beginning self-diagnostics, perform TROUBLE SHOOTING .

NOTE: A New Generation Star (NGS) tester is required to test the power mirror system. If NGS tester does not communicate with vehicle, refer to NGS tester manual.

Connect New Generation Star (NGS) Tester to Data Link Connector (DLC) located below instrument panel. Using NGS tester, perform data link diagnostic test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - CONTINENTAL article. If NGS tester displays CKT914, CKT915 or CKT70=ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, repair communications concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - CONTINENTAL article. If NGS tester displays NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for instrument cluster, perform TEST B: NO COMMUNICATION WITH INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under SYSTEM TESTS. If NGS tester displays NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for Driver's Door Module (DDM), perform TEST AJ: NO COMMUNICATION WITH DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE under SYSTEM TESTS. If NGS tester displays NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for Lighting Control Module (LCM), perform TEST C: NO COMMUNICATION WITH LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE under SYSTEM TESTS. If NGS tester displays SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record DTCs from all modules. Erase DTCs from all modules. Perform instrument cluster, DDM and LCM self-test. Perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DTC INDEX , DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE DTC INDEX and/or LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE DTC INDEX table. If self-test is passed and no DTCs are retrieved, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX under SYSTEM TESTS.

⁽²⁾	Using NGS tester, retrieve and document continuous DTCs. Clear all DTCs. Perform Lighting Control Module (LCM) self-test. If DTC B1342 is retrieved again, replace LCM.
