Test Aa: Key-In-Ignition Chime Does Not Operate Properly

WARNING: Vehicle is equipped with an air bag system. To prevent air bag deployment, system must be disabled before working near steering column and instrument cluster. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, monitor Driver's Door Module (DDM) PID D_DOOR while opening and closing driver's door. If DDM PID D_DOOR indicates AJAR with driver's door open and CLOSED with driver's door closed, go to next step. If DDM PID D_DOOR does not indicate AJAR with driver's door open and does not indicate CLOSED with driver's door closed, repair driver's door ajar switch circuit. See ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Using NGS tester, retrieve and record LCM DTCs. Clear continuous DTCs. Perform LCM self-test. If DTC B1352 is retrieved, go to next step. If DTC B1352 is not retrieved, go to step  5 .
  3. Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Disconnect key-in-ignition switch harness connector C2012. Measure voltage at terminal No. 5 (Black/Pink wire) at key-in-ignition switch harness connector C2012. See Fig 1 . If no voltage exists, go to next step. If any voltage exists, repair short to power in Black/Pink wire between LCM and key-in-ignition warning switch.
  4. Using a fused jumper wire, ground terminal No. 5 (Black/Pink wire) at key-in-ignition switch harness connector C2012. Using NGS tester, monitor Lighting Control Module (LCM) PID IGN_KEY. If LCM PID IGN_KEY indicates IN, replace key-in-ignition switch. If LCM PID IGN_KEY does not indicate IN, repair open in Black/Pink wire between LCM and key-in-ignition warning switch.
  5. Disconnect all LCM harness connectors. Inspect for corrosion and pushed out pins. Reconnect all LCM harness connectors, ensuring they are connected correctly. Operate system to verify if concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace LCM. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Clear DTCs and repeat LCM self-test.
