Test U: Message Center Not Operating Properly (DTCS B1205, B1208, B1209 & B1212)
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Press each message center button and listen for tone. If tone does not sound when each button is pressed, go to next step. If tone sounds when each button is pressed, system is okay at this time.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect message center switch module harness connector. Measure resistance between terminals at message center switch module (component side) while pressing each button. See MESSAGE CENTER SWITCH MODULE RESISTANCE table. See Fig 1 . If resistance readings are as specified, go to next step. If resistance readings are not as specified, replace message center switch module.
- Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C256. Measure resistance in Light Green wire between terminal No. 3 at instrument cluster harness connector C256 and terminal No. 4 at message center switch module harness connector C266. See Figure and Fig 2 . Measure resistance in Light Blue/Yellow wire between terminal No. 13 at instrument cluster harness connector C256 and terminal No. 5 at message center switch module harness connector C266. Measure resistance in Pink/Orange wire between terminal No. 15 at instrument cluster harness connector C256 and terminal No. 2 at message center switch module harness connector C266. If resistance readings are 5 ohms or less, replace instrument cluster. If any resistance reading is greater than 5 ohms, repair appropriate open circuit(s). See WIRING DIAGRAMS.
